Spongebob Squarepants
My first carved cake!!!! Of course I started off easier with spongebob and all his squary-ness (is that a word?!) but it was still challenging! All the little pieced together pieces were hard to ice and get smooth...PITA!!!! But I am pretty happy with how it turned out! It's dark chocolate cake with french vanilla buttercream icing and chocolate icing. The krabby patties are just french vanilla cupcake "buns" and dark chocolate cupcake "burgers" with red and yellow french vanilla buttercream sealing everything together. TFL!!!

30 Year Work Anniversary
My former employer asked me to do a cake for another employee's 30th year working there. 30 YEARS!!!! She started working there a year after the facility opened. They specifically asked for a bedraggled, tired, black haired woman and chocolate cake. They wanted me to surprise them with the filling. They wanted an 11 x 15 to feed 75 people (so it's 4.5" high - it looks huge!). Dark chocolate cake with three different fillings - chocolate, caramel, french vanilla. Iced in french vanilla buttercream. There are things I see on it that I would fix....which drives me batty...but they always say I'm too hard on myself so we'll see!!!! My biggest regret is that I don't get to eat any of it!

Back To School
We have open house tomorrow night for my son's elementary school. His former Kindergarten teacher asked if I would do a cake for a raffle for the parent council and of course I said I would do it. I can't come up with enough reasons to make cake! Hopefully it'll work well for them!!!! It's chocolate cake with chocolate hazelnut filling and iced with vanilla buttercream. The sign and school scene are just printed and laminated. I only had two days notice and didn't have time to make anything fancier. I think it turned out cute though! TFL

Peter Pan And A Black Lab
I don't know the story behind this cake request and I'm not sure I NEED to know the story! LOL They requested a black lab looking at an open jar of Peter Pan Peanut Butter on a light brown couch. The only thing that isn't edible is the peanut butter jar label. The jar was so small there was no way I could possibly get all the details on it so I just printed it off and laminated it. Champagne cake with champagne filling and frosting. I did a FBCT for the image. TFL!

Simple Buttercream Iced Cookies
I was sooooo bored this weeked! So I decided to just make some simple buttercream iced sugar cookies. I used the NFSC recipe (second time and worked just as awesome) which I LOOOOVE! And my regular buttercream icing recipe. Sent some to work with my mom, kept a few home (hubby would've killed me if I didn't) and took some to work for my first day back since surgery 2 weeks ago. I could eat these all day...good thing I didn't make too many!

For A Friend
A friend of mine is going through a rough patch right now and I wanted to do something to cheer her up. The poem on top is just printed and laminated. It says: Theres no mountain too high For a family like yours Exhausted, youre carried, Like a child on dads shoulders. The weariest one held up high With the sun on his face Theyll be a time for each one Carried in anothers embrace. To each other hold tight During times of great doubt Youll be amazed that, with family, All things will work out. Theres no mountain too high For a family like yours. Butterscotch spice cake with cream cheese buttercream filling and icing. Ribbon roses.

50Th Birthday
Second of two 11x15 cakes for a friend's hubby's surprise 50th birthday party. I wish I had more to go off of for inspiration. But, chocolate on chocolate always looks pretty yummy to me so that's what I went for! Chocolate hazelnut cake and chocolate hazelnut buttercream. Even if it looks boring at least it'll taste TERRIFIC! TFL!

50Th Birthday Sheetcake
Ugh, my first completely BORING cake! One of two 11 x 15 cakes. A friend's hubby is turning 50 and she wanted to pay me to do cakes instead of someone else. I knew it would be hard because she gave me no info - I specifically asked favorite color, hobbies/interests, etc and she gave me nothing. Just said "put some 50s on it." And she wanted it scored for ease of serving. If it didn't need scored I probably could've been more creative. It's not completely horrible is it? (French vanilla with french vanilla buttercream).

Birthday Cupcakes For Nursing Home Residents
So, I'm going to be donating birthday cupcakes to residents at the nursing home where I used to work. This is what I came up with for now. I'll do daisies, butterflies, etc during the summertime and snowmen, snowflakes, etc during the wintertime. I had a heck of a time figuring out how to package them (inexpensively) so they'd look beautiful, too. This is what I came up with. TFL!!!

Chocolate / Gold
Made a black forest cake and decided to practice painting on buttercream. Filled and iced with chocolate buttercream and then used my scroll impression mat on the whole cake. Painted the gold with gold luster duster mixed with almond extract. If I was actually making this cake for someone I would've spent more time smoothing and done a second coat of gold "paint" but just for us it doesn't really matter all that much!!! TFL!

Optimus Prime
My nephew is a huge Transformer's fan and his absolute favorite is Optimus Prime. Funny, though...when he saw this cake his favorite part was all the flames! I think my husband liked the allspark best, but it was his idea so I guess he's biased! Chocolate cake with a peanut butter/chocolate chip cookie filling (that was probably too thick because it was difficult to cut, and iced with vanilla buttercream. I was too lazy to make my own fondant this time (I know...BAD!) so I used Wilton's red, blue and yellow premade fondant to make the flames and Optimus Prime. All the kids wanted to make sure they had a flame or part of O.P. to eat! They didn't complain about the taste, but six year olds don't really know any better. They just thought it was fun! TFL

Boston Red Sox
The gal wanted one just like the Twins cake I did for her friend, but much smaller. This is just a six inch for her and her hubby to share for his birthday. I personally liked it better before I put all those signs around the outside...with just the red stripes, but since she wanted the signs I thought I better put them on!!!! French vanilla cake with strawberry cream filling and french vanilla buttercream icing. The players are made with mmf and so are the stripes, infield and bases. The only part(s) nonedible is the laminated signs around the outside of the cake.

X-Box "in A House"
My nephew wanted an "x-box in a house" cake for his birthday. He's not specific at all! LOL!!! This was the cutest way I could think to do it. He refuses to eat chocolate cake....I KNOW CRAZY, RIGHT?! So he had vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. The "walls" were printed from my computer and laminated. The x-box and figure were made of fondant. I screwed one of the arms up so he had to be wrapped up in a blanky, but he often sits that way on the floor anyway, so it worked just fine! TFL

Space Cake
My son's second 6th birthday cake (to celebrate with family). It's dark chocolate with chocolate buttercream filling and icing. Our teeth will make for some nice pics after we eat this cake, but who cares?! The planets came in a kit we got at the book store. I saw someone else (don't remember who) splatter white food coloring on their space cake and it worked really well! Thanks for the tip! The constellation on the very front is Gemini, which is Jonah's zodiac sign so I had to at least have that one on there! TFL!

Hailey's Farm Cake
For the daughter of one of my son's teachers. She gave me one of the plates that they're using for the party, so I based this off of that design. So much fun! The cake is dark chocolate/vanilla marble with buttercream filling and icing. The black cow spots are peanut butter fudge icing from CC. It is soooo good!!!! I could eat it all by itself!

Hope's Pink Purse
Dark chocolate cake with buttercream filling and MMF. Only nonedibles are the ribbons (and the support dowels inside, of course!). I was told the little 8 yr olds were super impressed and my aunt and uncle loved it! My first standing purse cake, and I totally cheated by using the oval pans, but it worked great! TFL!

Ben 10
My son, who is a HUGE Star Wars fan decided he wanted Ben 10 on the cake he's sharing with a few of his friends. There's only going to be a few of us so I made a little six incher. He wanted peanut butter cake, which I thought would be gross. I guess I have to try new things because the scraps tasted AWESOME!!!! With the peanut butter fudge filling....mmmmmmmm!!!! All done in buttercream. TFL!

First Real Wedding Cake!
I should say first PAID wedding cake! I did one last weekend for my grandparents 50th. This is for a friend of a friend who had a destination wedding and is now having a huge reception! 16, 12, 8. Luckily they wanted chocolate and white with good ol' buttercream filling so it was simple as far that goes. That SCROLLWORK was a PITA. It didn't turn out like I wanted it to, but hopefully it's okay.

Golden Anniversary
Okay, this is my first big cake....sooo many things I will definitely do differently next time!!! This is for my grandparents golden wedding anniversary. For a few hundred people!!!! I only have to drive it about a 1/2 hour but I am terrified. Here's to hoping a cake disaster picture doesn't soon follow!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
I made this cake for my son's kindergarten class. Their graduation program is based on this book (called "The Very Teeny Kindergartener") so his teacher thought it would be fun if I brought a cake based on that theme...didn't care what I did with it. This seemed like something fun to try. I hate being a perfectionist though...so many things that drive me crazy about this cake that the kids won't give a rip about!!!! TFL

Gold Tipped Roses
Gold tipped roses for my gram and gramp's 50th wedding anniversary. I still have to make gold leaves and then I will be happy! I dusted pearl dust on them too...can't tell from the pic but they're really pretty in person! Hopefully they look like roses and not cabbages! They're my first!
