It was Mario for this birthday boy! The cake was vanilla filled with boston cream and covered in vanilla BC. All of the accents were done with fondant, royal and piping gel. the coins were brushed with gold luster, although you can't really tell in the picture. Mario was made of gumpaste.

For my boss' 40th surprise party. The bottom and top layers are chocolate with oreo mousse and the middle was vanilla with lemon cream cheese. Each layer was covered in fondant. Alan, who was turning 50 and is also a funeral director, got a headstone cake. It was red velvet with cream cheese. The headstone and tree (who looks like some evil Transformer or something) were gumpaste. I hope no one ever celebrates my birthday by way of a headstone. Seems a bit contradictory to me..........

My mom and I hosted a Silpada party, so I stuck to the theme by making a necklace display. The necklace and earrings are made of fondant and dragees painted silver and clear rock candy for the "gems". It was a pumpkin and spice cake filled and covered with cinnamon cream cheese. It was a hit!

For the avid tennis player's surprise party, a 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 chocolate cake covered in vanilla BC. I carved a 1/2 sheet and loaf pan to make the racquet. The sides are done in fondant and the strings are RI that I painted with black gel. The ball is made from the mini ball pan and covered in fondant and the towel is fondant as well. TFL!
For this spy wanna-be, I made a chocolate cake with oreo filling and chocolate BC. The spy, "top secret" envelope, and foot prints are fondant and the binoculars are RKT covered in fondant.

For the modern mom, a vanilla cake with vanilla BC. The silhouette, circles, and ribbon roses are fondant. I added some dragees to the mom, her bag, the carriage and daisies for a little extra bling. The hosts wanted dark pink and black, just like the baby's room.
As soon as I saw the picture posted by mjmccray last week, I was itching to try this! My mom is hosting a Pampered Chef party this evening and I thought it would be the perfect centerpiece. The cakes are strawberry with streaked cream cheese icing. The butterfly is fondant. Thanks for the idea MJ!
My boyfriend's son just started football this year, so I thought a football cake would be fun for his bday. It is chocolate filled with oreo mousse and covered in vanilla BC. The goal posts and jersey are gumpaste and the football is RKT covered in dark chocolate fondant. He loved seeing his name and # on the jersey!
For my BFF's baby girl who turned 5 and celebrated with a skating party. She was very specific about her cake and wanted "chocolate on the top, vanilla on the bottom and strawberry icing (BC) allll over", so thats what she got. The skate and hearts are gumpaste and the rest fondant. I added silver dragees on the flowers and the skate for a little extra bling. TFL!
I got the idea from a fellow CCer, and although hers looked better, my neighbor's MIL loved it! It was devils food with chocolate BC and covered in fondant and brushed with pearl luster.
