Confirmation Girl
The daughter of my friend was being confirmed in the Catholic Church yesterday and my friend asked me to make a cake to help celebrate the special occasion. The figure is the girl in her confirmation dress and the cake is made to mimic the dress. The black flowers were done using brush embroidery (my first attempt at this). The figure was done in fondant mixed with tylose powder.

Bunco!!!
I made this cake for a fun, crazy group of ladies who love to play bunco. Each cake was filled with a different flavor combination. This was my first time covering square cakes in fondant (thank goodness for Sugarshack's DVD). They're not perfect, but I was pretty pleased. The bunco lady on top was made from fondant/GP. Thanks to pinkbox for her inspiration and help.

Retro Circles
I made this cake for a 19 year-old young lady's "black and white" birthday party. I was so excited that she chose the retro circles because I've been dying to make a cake like this for awhile. The cake was a white cake, filled with three layers of raspberry buttercream. It was covered in MFF with fondant accents and a fondant/gumpaste bow. I used my clay extractor for the first time to make the edges of the bow. Fun! Sorry about the slightly blurry pic (and bad angle).

Are You Ready For Some Football? #2
I made this cake for a Superbowl party. You can see the other side of the cake in my photo gallery. The cake was made from a 2-layer 6-inch cake and half of a sports ball cake on top. The cake was covered in fondant, the symbols were done in fondant and royal icing, and the face mask was made from gumpaste.

Love Birds
This was my throwdown cake for January 2009 (though I lost against sugar wishes' beautiful cake). The cake is covered in chocolate fondant and 200(!) gumpaste flowers. I made the birds from gumpaste and the hearts were piped in royal icing. I had a lot of fun dreaming up and making this cake.

Joint Birthday.
This was made for a boy's birthday at school. It was also his teacher's birthday, so the mum kindly wanted to acknowledge that on the cake. The order was for a standard flower cake. However, in good conscience, I couldn't put only flowers on a teenaged boy's birthday cake. So, he got the same University of Utah Utes' symbol on it. My buttercream turned out much better than on my previous sheet cake attempt.

Magic Birthday Party
I made this for my son's friend. As you can probably guess, there was a magician at the party. I had alot of fun making the rabbit popping out of the hat (fondant/gumpaste mix). The cake was iced in buttercream (I still need work on this). This was my first attempt using Sugarshack's buttercream, which I LOVE!

More Stripes & Daisies
This is the same design as a previous cake in my gallery, using different colors. The cake itself was WASC with chocolate buttercream. It covered in fondant, striping is done with RI, and the daisies were made from gumpaste. My striping didn't turn out as neat as last time. I think the icing was too stiff and kept breaking.

Happy New Year!
I made this cake for a small New Year's get-together I had with some friends. Really, it was just a good excuse to practice some piping. I used blue fondant and white royal icing for piping. My hand was shaking like a leaf so the piping didn't turn out exactly as I was hoping. Practice, practice, practice!

Santa & Rudolph Scene
I made this Christmas cake for my family. I'm new to making fondant figures, so these took me awhile. Santa is enjoying his cookie while the reindeer are opening their gifts (see Rudolph got a mini Rudolph for Christmas). The cake was chocolate with peppermint buttercream and crushed candy canes. The outside was dusted with sanding sugar and decorated with royal icing snowflakes. I got lots of tips from the discussion and other people's cakes on CC - thank you!

Dots & Bows
I made this cake for a bridal shower. Blue, brown, and pink were her wedding colors. The shower invitation was a riding boot (you can see it peeking out of the top). I may have got this cake idea from a picture on this site - sorry, I don't remember who. The cake looks wet, but it's just the luster dust brushed on it.
