Cross Cake
Found this picture in an old Wilton yearbook. The instructions said to do color flow for the dove and the ends of the cross, but I didn't have any, so I used royal icing and smoothed it out. Butter yellow cake covered in buttercream with royal icing roses, buttercream vines, leaves & borders.... By the way, this was my mother-in-law's birthday and she would not cut it! She said it was too pretty and wrapped it up and stuck it in the freezer!

Diego's Treehouse
Thanks to everyone here on cc for the inspiration! Cake is a mixture of german choc with milk choc with chocolate buttercream under the colored buttercream. I used a pillar called a hidden pillar for the treehouse trunk because you can cut them, covered it in fondant then glued the board the treehouse cake is on to it. All animals and the name are made from royal icing, rocks are fondant, palm tree is fondant wrapped around 3 dowel rods, buttercream grass

Beer Can Pyramid
A few minutes after this pic was taken, this cake could go in the "cake disasters" folder! Top two cans in back fell off and took about 6 of the half cans on the back with them. Customer wanted a cake to look like this for her husband's birthday. I tried very hard to find a picture of one someone had done and couldn't find one. I know now why no one would want to attempt this. It was a learning experience though. I made a 6 in square and a 4 in square cake for the bottom two tiers so that it would be more stable. I baked cakes in soda cans and then cut them in half lengthwise and decorated them. I stood them up all around the cake and put the four whole cans on top. It looked great till I tried to slide it into a box; that's when the two back cans on top took a nose dive. I managed to redecorate the half cans that fell off and got them stuck back on, but the two top cans that fell off were irreparable, so the top only had two cans on it. Customers absolutely flipped over it though! They were so impressed. Bottom tier was chocolate, middle was white and top cans were marble. All buttercream except for the gold tops, they were fondant brushed with gold piping gel. Every can was freehand decorated with stiff buttercream.

Black Belt Cake
Done for a little boy who got his black belt the day after his birthday. Chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling covered in buttercream. Fondant figures, bricks, boards and black belt. I was upset that the figures turned out to be so heavy they wouldn't stand up straight, but customer loved it.

Easter Garden
Done for my family's Easter dinner. Bottom tier was carrot cake with cream cheese filling. Top tier was strawberry with cream cheese filling. All buttercream, except basket handles, flowers and carrots were made with royal icing. basket handles started falling off the cake when I got it to the destination, think the buttercream got a little too warm in the car and wouldn't hold the hard icing decorations. That was a real easter egg in the middle and actual chocolate candies
