Purse
I used a single layer 12x18"plus a 10" square single layer, stacked with choc bc and raspberry preserves, then carved into shape. Chocolate ganache over all held it together, then fondant. I shined the whole cake with a spray of corn syrup mixed with vodka which worked great (thanks to whoever posted that tip).

Harlequin Stripe Topsy
I wanted to do a less tapered topsy so I used a 10" carved down to 9" on the bottom, with a 7" carved down to 6" on the top. I liked the less severe taper. Fondant over white ganache, I used my Silhouette SD for the harlequin diamonds, rickrack stripes, and plaque - all made with modeling chocolate. I used the carved-out hole method.

Starfish
Carved starfish cake, used a 14" round and built up with the scraps. I covered the cake in chocolate ganache, then piped on the dotted texture with more ganache, let firm up, then covered in fondant and airbrushed with pearl glaze. Gumpaste hibiscus, cake crumbs on tan royal for sand, blue royal with blue piping gel over for water. Letters were supposed to look like bubbles but weren't terribly successful...

Pink & Green Baby Shower
IMBC frosted 6" and 8". Top tier is banana with dulce de leche and coconut bc, bottom tier is white chocolate raspberry. Cute little baby shoes from the pattern posted in the templates section of the galleries. Letters and rickrack stripes, as well as booties were cut out of modeling chocolate on my Silhouette SD.

Hiking Theme Cake
This cake was for a couple who loves hiking. The bride was from Texas so the bottom tier has Texas bluebonnets and sunflowers, the groom was from Oregon so as the cake graduates up to the top it gradually becomes more alpine, with pine trees, until finally reaching Mt. Hood at the top of the cake. The bride wanted everything to be very graphic in style and brought me an inspiration picture from one of my favorite bakeries, Bakery Bar.

Cheetah
My "Ode to Planet Cake (my favorite cake designers)" cheetah cake. I loved doing this one. I airbrushed a light tan stripe first, then painted the pattern on with food color/vodka. This was my first figure, I was really happy since it looked like the girl it was intended to look like, dumb luck I guess. I definitely think it is easier/fun to make your figures cartoon-like with less is more as far as features go but just IMHO. This was a 6" cake with a zebra pattern inside the cake (wish I got a picture of it cut) - my daughter called it "the cheetah ate a zebra cake", bottom tier with an 8" lemon cake w/lemon curd.

Anniversary Gold
A 50th anniversary deserves a grand cake. This one was purchased by the son for his parents (so sweet). They wanted to keep the topper so I put it on a disc for them, sprayed them with gold luster dust/alcohol. I wasn't happy with my scrollwork , learned for next time to color my RI a gold color before brushing with the gold luster dust/vodka mixture. Also should have thinned my RI a bit more for better flow, ah well we get a bit better each time! This was alternating layers of choc and vanilla cake, filled with raspberry filling, and covered in chocolate ganache, then fondant.

Gold Snowflake
For a fiftieth golden anniversary, this is a white chocolate buttercream frosted cake with white chocolate snowflakes painted with gold pearl dust. The topper is gum paste, the roses are fondant. I steamed the roses and leaves to get a nice shine and was really pleased with the result. I also added some ivory pearl dragees and threw on some sanding sugar to get a twinkling snow effect which you can't see really well in the picture. The cake inside was chocolate with peppermint candy cane buttercream.

Christmas Tree Topsy Turvy
Covered in fondant, with fondant ropes, real popcorn garland, chocolate pinecones, with a sugar cookie/royal icing covered star cookie at the top. The cake was chocolate with a chocolate ganache and peppermint candycane buttercream filling, covered in chocolate ganache and then fondant. I used the "no-hole" topsy turvy method with royal icing between tiers as glue and two dowels to stabilize the structure. It worked surprisingly well and less work then cutting out the hole.

Enchanted Garden Topsy
Ah, inspired by so many cakers on this site and their wonderful cakes, thank you! For a 6 year old birthday party. IMBC frosted although the mushroom is covered in fondant. Fondant bugs, the bees are suspended on spaghetti. Oreo crumbs at the base. Gumpaste flowers, stems, leaves...The base cake is chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry filling, the middle (purple) tier is a rainbowlicious cake. I loved doing this cake, it was so much fun!

Pale Pink Roses With Black Stripes
Inspired by a Gateaux Inc. cake, I did this version in pale pink but my fondant faded to almost white. The vertical black stripes are fondant put thru a pasta machine, with a black fondant initial monogram topper. The board is a double stacked cake drum with black ribbon with ball feet glued on and spraypainted.

First Topsy Turvy
My first topsy turvy (& first fondant cake) for a friend's daughters' 14th birthday. I had fondant issues and bulging on the lower tier (thank goodness for ribbon!). I have since researched fondant techniques on cc and think I know what I did wrong! The two tone curly ribbons were easy and fun, my 7 year old daughter helped wrap them around drinking straws! The recipient was thrilled.
