911 Memorial For Our Local Fire Department
This was my privilege to make a memorial sugar sculpture dedicated to the 911 event for our local fire department. The towers are casted sugar. The hand sculpted wall is the same all the way around with different people representing the agencies and families involved in the tragic 911 event. God bless those who survived and those who fell. My thanks to the generosity of our local fire department for letting me share in this memorable event.
Blown Sugar Swan
This was a quickly centerpiece. I should have added more but ran out of time. The clear piece behind had hologram dust in it. This made it pop and the mirror below gave the illusion of reflection in the water.
Blown Sugar Peacock Cake
It all started with a broach. I loved it and cast it in silicone to make for a cake. My mom loves peacocks, so I decided to take the broach and the peacock and match the colors to the feathers. I made a texture mat for the feathers. This was my first peacock to make out of isomalt. It made it to a show 45 miles away and almost home. Minor damage, but I am able to fix it for display.
What do you do when you mistakenly use fondant for the legs instead of gum paste and you find the horse has collapsed?.... You make the Pegasus look down over a cloud... that's what you do. Improvise, adapt, and over come!
Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles
Made this cake for a display. Bubbles are made of jello. Scary to think that gelatin can get rock hard like that. They actually bounce when they hit the floor instead of breaking. Found them to be easier to use for display over my blown sugar bubbles. Enjoy.
