Hubby's 1st attempt at scroll work. He didn't have a pattern, just kinda winged if freehand. He was unhappy with the bumps in his scrolls but I think their fine. It was a free cake and I'm sure they loved it. Almond cake and BC

Truck made for my father in laws 75 birthday. Windows, grill, bumper and lights are fondant. The rest is buttercream because he is not all that fond of the taste of fondant. Buttercream is frosted with airbrush pearl.(we got a new toy) Tires are RKT with fondant

George and his bananna pile upclose. All fondant George and bannanas with cake hill. This was fun! It did take 3 trial Georges to get him even close to right, but he was cute., My 2 year old grandson was adorable stealing banannas!

Hubby wanted cake...So I told him he had to practice one or more of his skills if he expected me to bake. It is Mardi Gras week and I'm exausted! So this is his first self taught attempt at basket weave and the rope trim. He learned he needs to go higher because he had a tiny gap. and also to crumb coat with the color your going to weave in. The grapes were his way of trying to hurry up and make pretty. I made the stems and tendrils with fondant. I think he did a great job! Not bad for a big tough fireman
We made Santa just for the fun of it. Hubby carved Santa freehand from a pic I found online. He is all BC. Everyone at our family get together just loved him.
This our wedding cake...i kinda forgot we did our own and it could be considered our first. i am a florist and had to have fresh flowers on everything including the cake... the brown was ribbon for the simplicty of it. We did the entire wedding ourselves and made it easy where possible. Hubby made the cake stand just for our day to match the box our rings were brought in.
We cut a bottle in half and retaped it to make a mold for the nipple we simply filled a nipple and peeled it off.. for the cap we had to make a mold. I hope this helps. I had a few messages asking how this was done... so here is a bigger pic as well.
This cake ws inspired by a cake wer saw here on CC last week. We were a little intimidated by the diaper bag so for now opted to do a blanket..but the rest seemed to come out pretty good. The bottle is white chocolate the nipple is beanutbutter melts. All other figures are fondant. The cake and blanket are BC
This is our second cake attempt and our first $ cake! woo hoo! We used a rubber mat that you use as drawer liner to make the texture on top the cake and cross. She only expected us to maybe draw a cross for her with icing but we see every cake as our chance to try something new.
This was our 1st "real" cake ever! We have only been doing this a few months (took that long to get supplies together.) but I wanted to play with fondant. (the dots and her name) I used clay cutters for her name because I liked the way they look.. the dots were cut using a medicine bottle. We did this cake for our grandaughter's 1st birthday. The top cake came off easily for her smash cake...She had a ball!
Hubby and I do cakes together. We just got started and this is only our 5th cake. We decided to take Duff's advice and NOT let the cake boss us around! This cake was for Hubs 50th Birthday and poor baby had to help. We got the insperation from a cake we saw here in CC when I first found this site. We love this place!!!!
