Mad Scientist

Made this cake for a mad science birthday celebration... the kids did experiments and launched rockets. So fun! I was really pleased with the way my sugar scientist turned out and the birthday boy loved it too!

A Bouquet For A Teacher

School supplies arranged with springtime flowers help a kindergarten teacher celebrate her birthday. This teacher loves chocolate, so the inside of her cake was three layers of Devils' Food cake with chocolate fudge filling in between. On the outside, a buttercream basket holds a bunch of sugar blossoms and edible pencils, paper, scissors and rulers... an A+ birthday celebration!

Baby Winnie

Baby Winnie is all gum paste and the water is two colors of piping gel swirled over top buttercream icing.

Dogwood Cupcakes

Cupcakes made for a bridal luncheon. Bride's grandmother's favorite flower was dogwood.

A Day At The Spa

Feet soaking in piping gel, eyes covered with gum paste cucumbers and a soft fondant terry robe - that's the way a cake decorator pampers herself! Hee hee!

Love Birds

Cake I made for my daughter's wedding at a science museum. I made about 1300 flowers in seven different shades of blue to create the ombre effect. Birds and branches are edible - bunting flags are paper.

Blue Diaper Bag

Diaper bag for a baby shower. The bear was made of RKT and covered in buttercream "fur."

A Birthday At Pinehurst

Cake made for a golf themed birthday party at the Pinehurst Resort, featuring the historic inn, the bushes that spell out the Pinehurst name (adapted for the birthday boy) and, of course, Putter Boy. He is the famous statue that stands at the clubhouse and is shown on the Pinehurst logo.

Lil' Artist

I made this cake for a birthday party at an art studio. The paintings are replicas of some that are in the studio's gallery. I made gum paste "canvases" and painted on them with food colors! The art box and tube of paint are RKT covered in fondant.

An Edible Bouquet

Lots of blossoms. Lots of time wiring them together. Two really late nights, but it was all worth it cause the birthday girl cried when she saw her cake!

Chica 1St Birthday Cake

A 12" round cake for the party guests at a first birthday and a little smash cake for the birthday girl. She loves the Sunny Side Up show on PBS Sprout TV and this cute chicken is her favorite character.

Vera Bradley Purse Cupcakes

Made these for a cute pre-teen's birthday. Everyone had their own unique bag on an marble cupcake.

Princess And The Pea

Made this for a darling little girl. She wanted a frog to go with her Princess and the Pea, so that's why there's a little green frog in front. Bed is made of RKT and covered in fondant. The cake is iced in BC.

Angry Birds

Until I was asked to make this cake, I had no idea what Angry Birds was all about... and I'm still not sure! The good news is that the birthday boy loved his cake, so I guess I managed to capture at least a little of the essence of the game! The wooden pieces are RKT covered in fondant and the cake is iced in buttercream.

Sweet Monsters

Big blue monster was over 12" tall - all cake with buttercream fur. Made this cake for a first birthday celebration - the little orange monster was the smash cake for the birthday boy.

Fall Floral Wedding Cake

Four tiers covered in rustic textured buttercream and a cascade of sugar flowers. The two pumpkins on top are also sugar. Took me 25 hours to make the flowers, but I was so happy with the results!

A Designer Birthday

Lots of labels for a fashionista's 40th. Everything is edible except the sparkly brooch in the Tiffany's box. That was a button. This was my first attempt at a high heeled shoe and it wasn't as hard as I thought!

A Cake For A Teacher

Bottom tier is 12" round covered in buttercream. The books have fondant covers. The apple was RKT covered in fondant and everything else was gum paste. My favorite part was the chalkboard eraser - I loved how realistic it looked!

Tow Mater

My favorite character from Cars. Mater is made of RKT. 10" cake is vanilla with chocolate buttercream and graham cracker crumbs.

Manicure Party

10" bottom tier, 6" and 5" cakes stacked and carved into bottle of nail polish. The lid of the bottle is RKT covered in fondant. My favorite part was the nail file - gum paste covered in edible glitter!

Tangled

Rapunzel and Flynn are gum paste. The tower is four layers of cake with a RKT roof - all covered in fondant. The base cake is iced in buttercream - lemon cake with raspberry buttercream filling.

Down On The Lego Farm

Cake and cupcakes made for a birthday party at a farm. The birthday boy is really into Legos. The cake was for the grownups and matching cupcakes for the kids. My favorite part was the chicken!

Bridal Shower Purse Cake

Made as a centerpiece for a bridal shower... I say that because the bride didn't want to cut into it - ha ha! It was vanilla cake with raspberry filling.

Family Tree (Stumps!)

Made these for a big family reunion weekend. Each branch of the family is represented by it's matriarch or patriarch sitting on a cake stump.
