Microphone Cupcakes
I got the idea for these cupcakes in the "What's New Cupcake" book. My daughter had a music theme for her 8th birthday party so I made these along with a guitar cake. The mini ice cream cones were made by (Joy) and I was able to get them at our Target. The microphone part is a donut hole covered in icing and then rolled in silver sprinkles from Michael's.

Blue And Gold Banquet Cake
My husband and son made this cake for a Blue and Gold banquet cake contest. It is a 2 layer 9 inch cake in fondant and buttercream. They did it all by themselves without any help from me! They did such a good job that no one believed it was edible or that they had done it themselves! They had a Boy Scout emblem on the side of the tent that doesn't show up in the picture.

Blackberry Phone
We made this cake for my husband's coworker. It is a 2 layer 11 x 15 covered in fondant with buttercream accents. We used edible paper for the screen, which we had printed off at our local grocery store bakery. I am still getting the hang of covering cakes in fondant and there are some things I would have done differently.

Wall-E
We made this for a friend's son who was turning 6. My husband made the wood stand covered in aluminum foil. The body is 3 8 inch cakes. The eyes are ice cream cones with Keebler striped cookies on the ends. We used Kit Kats for the treads. We had some problems with the arms staying on when the graham crackers picked up some moisture.

Baby Einstein Caterpillar
I made this cake for my son's birthday party at preschool. All of the kids and teachers loved it so much they wanted me to make another one for the kids' graduation party. I used 1/2 the Wilton ball pan for each segment. The legs and tail are BC. The antenneas are heart lollipops and the cheeks are Necco wafers. The eyes aren't edible - just a couple of plastic google eyes. This was a fun cake to make and it didn't take much time.

Vertical R2D2
This cake was for our son's 6th birthday. We had seen some examples of vertical R2D2 cakes online and decided to give it a try. We used 4- 6" cakes for the body and half a ball pan for the head. The 'legs' were cut out of a 9x 13 cake. We used some skewers to attach the 'legs'. Fortunately we only had to transport this one from the kitchen to the dining room!

Motorcross
This was the first cake I made for someone besides one of my kids. My husband & I made this cake for a friend's son who races motorbikes. The base is a 12 x18 and then we carved out a 9x13 on top of that. We ended up transporting it in a clear rubbermaid container because we couldn't find a box big enough. We used truffles for rocks, shredded wheat for the haybales, and toffee bits for gravel.

Zangoz
I made this cake for a friend's daughter who wanted a Zangoz cake. The idea for the cake came from a trading card and another cake on a webkinz site. This cake was a 9 x13 and required a lot of different colors and layering of the icing to get the right effect. This was my first time doing leaves, pears and grass.

Tiered Butterfly & Flower Cake
I made this cake for a friend's daugher who was turning 3. This was my first time working with fondant so I learned by trial & error. This was also my first tiered cake. The top is 2 6 inch and the bottom is 2 -8 inch cakes. The butterflies and flowers were too thick and didn't have time to dry so I had a hard time getting them to stay on the cake. The details on the butterflies and flowers are royal icing. The little girl loved the cake and stuck her finger in it when she saw it.

Ladybug
I made this cake for a friend's daughter who was turning 1. I used the Wilton Daisy pan and put half the Wilton ball pan on top for the ladybug. A cupcake was used for the ladybug's head. I used black string licorice for the antennaes. I also made another individual ladybug for a "smash" cake.

Bama Stadium
My husband and I made this cake for a friend's son who was turning 13. We used a bundt stadium pan for the top and a jellyroll pan for the base. The trees, flags and field were marshmallow fondant. The scoreboard was not edible. Next time we would consider printing the field and score board on edible paper for more detail. We had difficulty getting the large nonpareils to stick so I had to place each one individually with tweezers.
