3-D Mickey
This is from the Wilton 2006 yearbook. This was a difficult cake, structurally. The face is 4 lbs. of chocolate. I ended up attaching the face with melted chocolate to a thick wooden dowel, and feeding the dowel through the center post of the tall tier cake stand. This worked! I transported it with the head off, and put it on at the party. The body is 2 - 8" rounds, with half a wonder mold on top (I always have a hard time getting the wonder mold to cook all the way through, without the edges getting overcooked, so I just did half.)

Inflatable Slide
This cake is chocolate on top, and vanilla on the bottom. I used a 11 x 15, cut to 9 x 11, and also used a 9x13, and cut to fit. The customer wanted to make it as inexpensive as possible, so I used buttercream, and fondant accents. No figure or sign, which would have added something, I think. Thanks to sweetsbyl for the inspiration.

Super Mario Bros.
Buttercream, with fondant accents. The figures are plastic. The pipes are RKT covered in fondant. I neglected to take into account the width of the cake, so the pipes were a little too big, but they worked. The goombas, mushrooms, turtle shells, were all made from fondant. This cake was a lot of fun to make!

Spring Daisy W/ladybug
This is a modification of the Wilton 2001 Ladybugged cookie. I donated 200 of them to a charity benefit, so I needed to streamline the decorating process, as well as make it sturdy enough for packing. I covered the cookies with fondant when they were warm from the oven, and made the petal markings. The centers are fondant circles, covered with colored sugar. The ladybugs were also cut from fondant, with royal icing dots and eyes/antennas. They took FOREVER to bake, but came out well.

Topsy Turvy Make-A-Wish Sweet 16
This is a topsy turvy cake made for a Sweet 16 party. The birthday girl was asking everyone to make donations to Make-a-wish in lieu of presents. The top tier is cookies 'n cream with chocolate buttercream filling, the middle tier was chocolate with chocolate buttercream, and the bottom was vanilla with buttercream filling. All accents are fondant, with silver dragrees on the quilted tier, and royal icing swirls on the other tiers.

Efteling Birthday Cake
This a cake representing a park in Holland called Efteling. Many thanks to freubelmuisje for the inspiration and her help with some technical details. I took various highlights from their photo albums, and put them on the cake. The man on top has a wooden dowel for the neck, covered in fondant, and the rest of him is fondant. Most of the pieces on the sides were made from fondant, and decorated with royal icing. The tulips are spaghetti, covered in fondant, then with fondant leaves, flower, etc. This cake took a lot of time, but came out really well!

Bakugan - Apollinir
The body and neck of the figure are made from rice krispie treats, that I covered in fondant. The wings were shaped over the sports ball pan, and the arms and feet were shaped from fondant. I had trouble figuring out the best way to paint on the gold details - I ended up using piping gel and gold lustre dust mixed together, which piped well, but unfortunately, remained sticky. This made it difficult to put it together, but I managed to do it without messing up the designs.
