String Work Practice - First Time On A Cake.
Just practiced string work on the practice board and had to come home and try it on a cake. The colors are not what I would normally choose,.. just trying to use up some icing leftover from other cakes, and it's just for practice. I was quite pleased with how even everything came out and the ruffles look pretty good too if I do say so myself! :) Thanks to everyone here for all the great inspiration and ideas, feedback and sharing.

Fishing Cake
Here's a cake for a fisherman or boy! Thanks to all the great ideas here at CC I put together this cake for my nephew's birthday. He loves to fish. I was a bit scared to do a cake shaped & decorated like a fish so I'm glad I checked here first for ideas. Thanks everyone for posting your pic's to share and to give everyone out there ideas. The rocks are fondant, cattails on top are color flow (they should have been taller), and the bugs and fish are plastic. Everything else is BC. Enjoy!

Wilton Course Ii - Final 'fall' Basket Weave
Here is my version of the Wilton Course II with the Basket Weave. I wanted a fall basket of flowers. It is iced in Cinnamon BC, the recipe is here on CC but I modified it using the Wilton basic Class BC and flavored it 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/4 tsp butter, 1/4 tsp almond + 1-1/2 tsp cinnamon. Yummy!!! The cake is French Vanilla. All the flowers are Royal Icing and the Chipmunk and Bird are Color Flow with Fondant Acorns, BC leaves & grapes. I loved making this basket! Enjoy. Thanks for looking.

Oops Halloween Topsy Turvy!
By total accident I have a topsy turvy cake. My cake sank! It's all decorated in BC and accented with a Fondant Ghost, Tombstone, Bat and Pumpkin. The Fall leaves on the tree are candy sprinkles individually placed but the green ones are BC. I ran out of icing to color in different colors,.. it was an afterthought. The Ghost, Tombstone, Bat and Spider/Webs are all accented with Silver Luster Dust. Enjoy the photo,.. it was fun to make and the kids can't wait to eat it!

Fall Sheet Cake For Church Dinner
This is my first and largest cake done to date. It is a half sheet cake, White Chocolate with Butter Crisco Buttercream icing (thus the nice creamy color) and decorations. I won't even go into the problems with this cake... you think 'what could go wrong with a sheet cake' let me tell you! It wasn't at all what I had in mind to decorate it with when I started. I am very pleased with the results though. I also tried a new large leaf tip border and inserted the small leaves. I like the look of it.

Baptism Tiered Cake
This was one of my first tiered cakes. It was for my 2nd Son's Baptism. You can kind of see the cross on the top draped with the flowers. I also had picked up the decorative icing edger, just the little triangle one with three patterns to try out. This was before I had any cake classes and knew how to use everything. I was just guessing. I thought it would be neat to post to see where I was to where I am. This was 2 years ago. I'm still learning and I can't wait for more! Thanks for looking.

Halloween Spider Web Cake With Spider And Tombstone Cup Cakes.
It's been a little since I did this one for my son and daughter's preschool playgroup Halloween Party. It was a single layer yellow cake and I used the rest for the cupcakes as I needed one to do my hairy spider! :) He was just iced in chocolate and covered in chocolate sprinkles. The cake was also iced in chocolate with orange for the web. I cheated and did circles and pulled a toothpick through them from the center. On the cupcakes I used cookies and various candies. Thanks for looking!

Halloween Pumpkin Cupcake Cake
Here it is!! My first Cupcake Cake! This was Soooo fun to do, and so easy! I can't wait to do another one. If you are thinking about trying one just do it! My son's Cub Scout Troup gobbled them up. They're just yellow cake cupcakes placed togeter, iced with BC frosting and a star filled pumpkin on the decoration with leaves and vines just like on a sheetcake. I had to keep it simple as I only had 3.5 hrs to do them in. Thanks for looking!

Rose Cake
This was a just because cake. I wanted to try the swags,.. I've never done them. I was practicing my roses, buds & half roses. I also tried that 'c' something lace though my daughter wanted more leaves and vines so it sort of got covered up. She wanted a doll cake but after baking the mold I couldn't find our doll for the top so thus the roses. I also tried the ruffle on the bottom... not at all good but hopefully will improve with practice. Maybe I didn't use the right tip. Thanks for looking!

Fall Colors Practice Cake
This one I tried for the colors & to try out other ideas... Thanks to heavenlycakes for ideas and input on color. I know the mum's s/b royal icing but they were more for color than for look. I guess overall I expected more, but I am pleased with the color combo and that really was what I was working on. I also just learned the rose buds so they were for practice too. I had meant to do the reverse shell border on the top but that is a lot different on a cake than on a practice board. I'll keep trying!

First Fondent Cake
I couldn't wait to try this stuff. I know that you are really suppose to use the color icing to 'glue' it together as your fondent but I was also trying to use up all my leftover icings from Course I. Thus my leaves went a little wild. But it's cute too. My kids were facinated with the fondent. My 2.5 year old stuck his finger right into it... thus that became the back of the cake. :) Enjoy. I can't wait to take Course III for proper instruction. I can see so many possibilities! Thx for looking!

Ice Age 2
My son turned 6 and loved Ice Age 2. We collected the Burger King Kids Meal toys and found a picture of a cake online he liked. I tried to duplicate and add the characters we had. He loved it and so did his friends. It's a 10 X 15 pan of yellow cake with all butter cream icing and some of the crystal like sprinkles to give it a ice look. I did spray the blue 'melting' ice river/lake on using wax paper as a template to shield off the other areas, and on the sides. Enjoy! Thanks for looking.

Yellow Cake With Chocolate Sweet Peas
Just using up my leftover icing from my Wilton Course I cake classes. I thought I'd try the border using the sweet peas and a collection on the middle using a heart pan. I think it turned out great but wow did my hand hurt for a bit after allthose flowers. This is fun... Thanks for looking!

Wilton Course I Finale - Rose Cake
Here is cake #3. We learned the final steps in making the rose. I've been practicing ahead of time... I just couldn't wait. I was trying to use up some of the leftover yellow from the clown cake so thus my yellow icing. My daughter loves purple (any shade) and loves icing so the roses are for her. I passed and I've already signed up for Course II. Wish me luck! Thanks again for looking. (I'm still working on getting my icing smoother.)

Plumeria Flower
This was my first cake from Wilton Course I. It was the transfer and fill in with the drop star. It is suppose to be a White with Yellow center Plumeria Flower. I added the green leaves after class at home to make it pop a bit more as all the white was loosing it somewhat. Not bad for a first cake. Thanks for looking!

Bob The Builder Dirt Cake
Here's a fun way to have a kids birthday cake,.. and so easy. My son, turning 3 wanted Bob the Builder and his Godmother was giving him a new Dump Truck. Great! I just loaded the (washed and cleaned) dumper with Dirt Cake complete with chunks of brownies, and gummie worms and added Bob and some cones. Dumped it onto a cookie sheet and the kids went nuts. They kept asking... do we really get to eat that? I hope this qualifies as a 'cake' I really wanted to post it for the idea. Thanks!

Thomas The Tank Engine
This is a cake I did for my son's 2nd Birthday. He went everywhere with his little Thomas train so it was a no brainer for the type of party he'd enjoy. I used Oreo cookies for the wheels and pretzel stix for the train tracks. One word of caution... do not use a confetti cake mix. I made a mistake and stood two layers of cake up on end for the cab portion of the cake. In the morning it had fallen over. I suspect the candy pieces weakened it. Good thing I took this picture before hand! Enjoy.
