My Very First Cake
I can't believe I haven't ever posted this. This was the very first cake I ever made for a public function. My friend had a tiny budget and BEGGED me to make her cake because she found out that my mom decorated cakes so I must know what I'm doing, right? It's all red velvet with cream cheese filling and the bottom layer is styrofoam because I was too chicken to try to do an 18". We all started somewhere, right?

You'll Bee Missed
Going away cake for co-workers retirement. She loved it! I thought the bees turned out cute, though it was definitely a learning experience. I had to put all the bees back on after delivery. Pineapple cake with Pina-Colada filling, YUMMY! I drew a ton of inspiration from all the other beehive and garden cakes on this site. I love CCers!

Smiley Face
A reward for a 12 year-old-boy after he finished some memorized statements for church. He specifically said he wanted yellow but I didn't want it to be too girly. It's a 6" but his mom said he ate the whole thing and wouldn't share with his little sisters (5 yrs & 2 yrs). They have to earn their own!

Fondant Taste Test
I've always wanted to do this! Each of these is using a different brand of Fondant (MMF, SatinIce, Wilton) and then brought to work with the instructions that everyone was to have a slice of each and then rate the Fondant that they preferred. I don't have much experience with Fondant and all of them were experiments - not thrilled with any of them but okay I guess. All of them are Yellow cake with bc. See if you can guess which is which and I'll post the results tomorrow.

Basket Of Strawberries
Thanks so much to Beez for the inspiration and directions. The handle caused me lots of headaches, but the whole cake was defintely a learning experience. Strawberry cake torted with strawberry filling and bc. Lid and handle are royal. It was huge, only 9 x 13 but almost 5 inches tall after all the torting!

Pot At The End Of The Rainbow
Finally getting around to uploading pic. First time using Swiss Meringue BC icing, I liked that it's not as heavy as BC but very soft and didn't crust at all. Pot and fondant rainbow weren't quite what I envisioned but really liked the luster dust on gold coins. Fondant bricks and mushrooms.

Parole Cake
Client works in a factory and has a co-worker on a prison work-release program. So this is a congratulations/goodbye cake upon his parole. I was worried that he would be offended but they said he thought it was really funny, it even has a file baked in the cake! I tried to copy a "get out of jail free" card from Monopoly.
