My latest birch tree themed cake. This is done in all buttercream with fondant accents (black marks and peeling bark). Base is a cutout from a real tree and flowers are real as well.
Bride-to-be ordered this cake for her groom as a surprise. He's from Maryland and loves his crabs and Old Bay. All edible. Corn, mallet & spice jar are RKT and basket is cake with fondant. Crabs are hand-made from modeling chocolate and colored using petal dust. Tanks to many cc'ers for the inspiration.
This is a cake I made for my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary. Cake covered in fondant, 2nd tier is hand painted with gold luster dust, royal icing & fondant deco's and flowers. Thanks to many fellow cakers here on CC for the inspiration for the design!
A bride brought me a photo of a similar design and asked me to duplicate. Cake is iced in buttercream. Decorations are fondant cutouts detailed with royal icing. Large flower is gumpaste/fondant. I added a pic with the background photoshopped out too.
Mom-to-be needed a separate cake that was gluten free. Used pillars to keep it away from main cake. Decorated in same color scheme to tie it in.

All tiers fondant covered and then stenciled with RI in a design similar to that on the bridesmaid dresses. Nerve wracking set up but worth it overall. Roses are real. TFL!!!
Bride brought me a photo of a similar cake (but original was all white) she found on "The Knot" (which was made by Sweet & Saucy Bakery, CA). I made the flower out of gumpaste/fondant mix by cutting different size circles and then rolling them with a ball tool to ruffle the edges a bit . Cake is iced in buttercream. TFL!!!
Each side a mixture of buttercream work and sugar flowers. Lily of the valley topper is gumpaste.
Clients son was turning 21 and loves Farmall tractors. She sent me pics of one of his models so I did my best to duplicate it in fondant/gumpaste. Was a lot tougher than I anticipated! She gave me liberty to decorate it, so thanks to many ccer's for inspiration. TFL!
Did this up quick for my son's belated birthday party. His cake request was a "guitar with flames". Not my best work but thought it came out ok (he was impressed and that's all that matters!). Used a video game guitar for template (neck is from the actual guitar, covered with plastic wrap and then decorated with fondant (cheating, I know!). TFL!

Just finished this dummy cake and headed to enter it into the local fair. Got the inspiration from a few cakes here on cc. Styrofoam rounds covered in fondant. Damask was done in RI from a stencil I cut with my Cricut Cake. Roses are handmade using a fondant/gumpaste mix. TFL!

Client wanted a tie dye cake with a silver peace sign on top -- the rest was left up to me. Thanks to me fellow cc's for the inspiration (esp."rooch"). Cake is white choc w/rasp. cream filling. Covered in fondant that was colored then smashed together & rolled out to achieve effect. Peace sign and other items are fondant. TFL!!

Theme of wedding was white winter. Bridesmaids dresses matched the ribbon. Cake is iced in buttercream and snowflakes are handmade out of sugarpaste. TFL!
This is the second year I've made a gingerbread house for a local contest. House is all GB, roof is covered in fondant. Tree in front is made out of modeling chocolate. Quite a challenge but also a lot of fun to make! TFL! (p.s. I won 1st prize in adult category and also people's choice awards!!)
My first attempt at a Spongebob cake. Choc cake, covered in fondant, shoes and pants are tootsie rolls mixed in with some fondant to make it more pliable! TFL
Bride found this similar icing design in a magazine. Thought it was very unusual and not expectionally pretty. That was until it was completed and after I put the flowers on. Now it's one of my favorites. TFL!!!
Wedding theme involved birch trees. Bride brought me a pick of a cake similar to this and asked if I could duplicate it in her colors. TFL! Cakes are covered in fondant and braches are fondant. Square cake is one of the side cakes that were needed for extra servings. The "birch bark" is fondant that I hand-painted.
