A customer wanted a speical cake to give to a co-worker who was retiring. She asked if I could copy his State Trooper hat. She was only serving about 30 people so I put the "hat" on top of a 12" round cake. Center of hat is chocolate cake w/mocha filling and brim is just a cardboard round, alll covered in fondant. Bottom cake is same flavor just frosted in buttercream. TFL!!!
Was asked to do a thirtieth birthday cake for a girl who loves the 80's -- especially big hair. Girl is made out of fondant (not my best work!), mousse and hairspray are rice cripy treat covered in fondant, around the side are a couple of banana clips made out of royal icing -- fun cake to do. TFL!
Entered this cake in the country fair and won a blue ribbon. Dummy cakes covered in fondant w/fondant swag. White roses are white chocolate, all other flowers are gp/fondant. TFL!!
A friend's mom wanted a special cake for her son's 16th birthday. She asked if I could do a football. This is how it turned out. Started with 10" round, 2 layer cake, the sculpted with a knife. TFL!
Client wanted to mimic her friend's garden as a special birthday treat. She brought me the adirondack chair (wooden) and a sketch of the garden layout. Veggies are fondant, steps are chocolate rocks, and flowers are BC. Thanks for looking!
Client wanted a special cake for her guys 60th birthday. He is heavily into books so I took the idea and rant with it. She called me first thing the next morning to tell me how big of a hit it was and that nobody wanted to cut it!! -- Gives such a nice feeling when clients take the time to do that!! Bride sent me a picture of cake she's had picked out since 1983!! I did my best to duplicate it. Frosted in buttercream, scrollwork done in royal icing then painted on pearl dust. Roses are real.
One of my favorites so far. Flowers were put on by the florist. Bride chose the ribbon and they had designed their own mongram logo - which I hand painted in the colors which matched the ribbon on a piece of fondant and attached to bottom tier. This wedding was gorgeous!!
My son was having a Speed Racer themed 7th birthday party and I've alway wanted to try doing a sculpted cake - not too bad for my first try. Cake is WASC (less the almond extract), covered in fondant. Thanks for looking!
The bride sent me two pictures of cakes, one with the design she wanted, the other in how she wanted the cake set up -- florist did the flowers - the bright flowers really make the cake pop! Cake is white with strawberry cream filling, frosted in IMBC/BC combo.
Theme for baby shower was Sweet Pea. The woman that threw the shower said that the couple had two peas & a pod salt & pepper shakers at their wedding and wanted to incorporated that into the shower & cake.
Made this for my niece's high school graduation party. Bottom layer is lemon cake with raspberry cream filling, top is white w/cookies & cream filling. Iced with IMBC. THANKS to Helipops for the design idea.
Wedding colors were light & dark purple. All tiers white cake iced with IMBC, 2 tiers w/IMBC filling, 2w/ Raspberry cream filling.
Bride doesn't like cake so I made this two-tier cheesecake. Wedding color are teal and brown. Frosted 3" cheesecakes with chocolate buttercream and flowers, etc. are fondant. Not my best looking cake but the color combo might be why!!
My Aunt & Uncle were celebrating their 40th Anniversary (ruby) and all I was told was that she hated red. Went with maroon and pink and found out when I delievered it that it matched all the decorations perfectly! White roses are white chocolate and other flowers are GP/Fondant.
Customer ordered 50th anniversary cake and left the decorations up to me. This is what I came up with--she was very happy! Cake is covered in buttercream, gold numbers & roses are fondant/gumpaste white roses are white chocolate, all brushed with gold luster dust.
My niece asked me to make her cake for her big 18th birthday bash. Her party theme was black & white and she wore black and pink. The cake was a big hit with her and all her friends.
Mom-to-be was doing the nusery in moose & bears. Got my inspiration for this cake from samshortcake (THANKS!). Bottom layer is choc with cookies & cream filling, top is yellow with raspberry cream filling.
This was made for a baby boy shower. I was given a napkin that the customer wanted to incorporate into the cake - hence the duckies, stars & safety pins (all made out of fondant). Baby is also made from fondant.
The customer provided the hunter & deer from a "Field & Stream Kit" she bought with the intention of doing the cake herself. She decided that wasn't her cup of tea and asked me if I could do something. Rocks, etc. made out of fondant. Brook is tinted gray & brown topped with clear piping jel to give it a more "authentic" water look (I don't care for "blue" water as the only place water looks blue is in the carribbean!!).
This was a cake I made for my boss who's a scorpio and loves the southwest them. Got the design idea from several of you wonderful decorators at cc. Scorpion is made out of fondant/gumpaste. Tumbleweeds are royal icing that I piped over a golf ball that I covered in plastic wrap.
Got this idea from jamjentyler (Thanks so much!!). Hated to duplicate so closely but the customer was turning 50 and her one request was that the cake say "Aged to Perfection" . My thoughts immediately went to wine. The bottle is made out of fondant that I rolled out thin & molded over a wine bottle and let dry. Label I made up and printed off the computer. Grapes are also made from fondant.
This was made for an avid bow hunter's birthday. All decorations were made out of fondant/gumpaste.
Choloate Swirls and Handmade Fondant Pearls adorn this wedding cake. Chocolate bow topper was made using modeling chocolate.
This cake was made for a Fall wedding. Leaves, acorns, pumpkins & berries were all made using fondant/gumpaste. Leaves were colored with petal dust. Icing is buttercream.
