Whale_1.jpg
My version of the little baby cake which so many have done before me. This was a 9x13 cake and the baby I actually made with oven safe soup bowls, I think they were about 4 inch round. The cake is covered in buttercream and the baby is covered in fondant And yes the baby's last name will be Whale, and there's a little whale on the baby's diaper.

Chocolate Birthday Cake
This cake was an 11x15 cake, one layer of chocolate and one layer of vanilla with canolli cream filling. I had never filled a cake with canolli cream but it's what the birthday boy and girl wanted and they said it was great. The basket weave took alot longer than I thought it would and was a little difficult to match the top to the sides but it came out OK in the end. Thanks to whoever posted the picture of their office party cake, I'm sorry I forget the name but it was a beautiful inspiration.

I did this cake for my brother's girlfriend who was heading back for her sophmore year. it was my first buttercream transfer and i decided to do the entire top. Didn't work out so good. the bird was the only thing that came out good. I had to redo the monmouth part because it smeared and then I didn't center it properly... then to top it all off I got some air bubbles that didn't smooth over very well. I think I'll just stick with chocolate transfer from now on... gotta love the whimsical bakehouse!!

Jills_Cake_2.jpg
This cake was for my MIL. it was chocolate cake filled with chocolate pudding and covered in ganache. I had never tried pudding as a filling, she said her mom used to make her cakes like this when she was young. it was pretty good. The swirls and such are powdered sugar glaze painted with gold luster dust and then there are dragees all over, maybe a few too many and then the top is the outrageuosly expensive wilton bow. won't be buying that again! thought it was 6.99, it was actually 16.99!

Katies_Second_Cake.jpg
This cake was for my sister. The bottom was supposed to look like a grass skirt. Second tier, ocean and third tier, night sky. The flowers and palm tree leaves are fondant. the palm trunks are pepperidge farm cookies, the sea shells are white chocolate and painted gold. The topper and moon is white chocolate. this was a tough cake to come up with... She asked me to make her a midnight luau beach cake. Considering it was dropped twice, I think it came out ok! Thank you to everyone for all the inspiration!

Elmo Cake
this is a mini cake I did for my daughter's birthday. her party was the next day and I wanted her to have just a little cake for her actual birthday so I threw this little one together at the last minute. it had ABC and 123 all over the sides. When my kids were done eating the red icing they looked like hanibal lector! very creepy but they loved it.

Dinosaur Cake
This cake was for a little one year old boy. his favorite colors were orange, green, purple and yellow. I used the wilton partysaurus pan and the mini dino pan as well. The big dino is a butter cake covered in italian meringue buttercream. The combo was a little too buttery for my taste, but it's what they wanted! And the little dinos are chocolate with imbc.

Horse Birthday Cake
This cake was made for my very best friend. It was a chocolate cake filled with chocolate peanut butter icing and covered in mmf. After that weekend, i swore off fondant and sheet cakes all together - they will be the death of me! oh and there was a pink ribbon bordering the bottom, her favorite colors are brown and pink right now.

Birthday Cake
This was a cake I did for my 3 yr old daughter. She wanted Dora, Sesame Street and Soccer on her cake. I carved it to look a bit like a topsy turvy cake, pulled the colors from the dora paper plates and added sesame street figures. There was supposed to be a dora candle on top but my 18 month old disappeared with it. The soccer ball on top is made from the mini ball pan and is a replica of her favorite soccer ball. the bottom tier was chocolate, middle and top was vanilla and all were filled with raspberry

Tennis-Cake---Web.jpg
Here is a cake I did for my sister's end of year tennis club party. The teacher liked it so much, the school ordered the same exact cake the next week for the end of year faculty party. The paw and writing was made out of white chocolate and is the school's exact logo. I covered the sides of the square cake with chocolate cookie crumbs to resemeble dirt as well.
