90Th Birthday Cake
I probably should have put this in the "over the hill" category, because he's way over! Anyway, this is for a really cool guy who was a surgeon in the army and now is retired and loves to play golf. All decorations are free-handed with tinted buttercream. Chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream
I did these for the heck of it this week. We sell a decorated butter cookie on the weekends at my bakery and I was getting tired of doing snowman cookies. I thought it was time for something warmer.
For a birthday party for a girl whose name begins with a B (not sure what it is) and who loves hot pink and sparkles.
Happy Birthday Alex
For a 15-year old who plays guitar. The guitar is free-handed with tinted buttercream.
Secret Garden Cake
This cake is for two brothers who are in the play The Secret Garden. Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. All decorations are free-handed with tinted buttercream.
More Cupcake Cookies
These are for a little boy's birthday party. The mom didn't want cake and thought cookies would be neater.
I made this for my friend's mother-in-law who turns 70 today. It's marble cake with chocolate buttercream and buttercream roses.
Wedding Tasting Cake
This is just a little 6" tasting cake for a bride. She's doing a chocolate themed wedding. How cool is that???? I did a few little chocolate cakes for her. This was the only one with white buttercream, too.
Baby Boy Shower
Pretty simple--white cake, vanilla buttercream, for a baby boy's shower thrown by a preschool for their teacher
I don't know what you call these cakes. I call them smoosh cakes. It's for a 1-year-old to "smoosh" all over himself at his party when he tries to eat it. I made it to go with the other Winnie the Pooh cake I posted today.
Winnie The Pooh & Friends
Here's another Winnie the Pooh cake I did this week. I don't know what it is about Winnie the Pooh. People are crazy about him! This is just a chocolate sheet cake with vanilla buttercream. All the decorations are free-handed with tinted buttercream.
Baby Shower Cake
This was for a baby shower--obviously for a girl. They wanted pink with white polka dots.
This cake was kind of a joke at the bakery--we all wonderd if the cake was for a human or a squirrel. Turns out it was for a lady who liked to feed the squirrels. The funnier part is that I had the photo in my book at the bakey and someone saw it and wanted to order it for herself! Who would order a squirrel cake?
This one is similar to another one I did, but this one is fondant and gumpaste flowers, while the other one I have posted is all buttercream (the second customer liked this one but wanted to cut down on cost and had it done in buttercream).
Thank You Cake
This was for a missionary who came to visit our church from India. The edges of the border are painted with gold, but it's kind of hard to tell from the photo. I tried to make the border Indian-inspired.
