Offset hexagons, fondant covered with red satin ribbon, fondant snowflakes made using new scrapbook punches and brushed with pearl dust. White sanding sugar sprinkled over cake for snow effect. Loved how this turned out!
Double layer of chocolate and butter cake with bavarian creme filling. All buttercream except for boy scout emblem which fondant made from a chocolate mold. Inspiration came from several photos on CC! Thanks to all who post and inspire!
Bottom layer is styrofoam, middle and top tier are red velvet cake with a dark cherry filling. Iced in buttercream with real satin ribbon. This was for the bride and groom only - I also cut and boxed 140 servings of sheet cake for the guests to take home.
Tent cake with fondant, trees are icecream sugar cones and buttercream , this was a last minute order and lots of fun to do!!
Monkey Cake inspired by several CCer's. 8 inch Round with half sports ball pan for muzzle (which was covered in fondant) Buttercream hair with grass tip. Made a 6" round and used a biscuit cutter to make the ears. Made for my monkey obsessed niece's 11th birthday - I was so excited to surprise her with it!!
Fondant covered - bottom tier is 14" (280 guests). 5 rows of RI dots and real ribbon at base of each tier. Learned lesson that a certain national chain bridal shop doesn't accurately name their colors.... my version of peridot wasn't even close to theirs!

I very much prefer to work with fondant... that being said - I'm somewhat pleased with how this one turned out. All buttercream, real ribbon (which stained slightly from the butercream despite being backed with press n'seal) fresh flowers. As we all know, every cake has a 'back'... much to my dismay, this venue chose to place the cake right at the top of a stairway so there was a 360 view... aagghhh!!
This has to be one of my all-time favorites! Fondant covered board, 12x12 square with the back rounded to resemble baseball field (green and brown "airbrushed" on with Pampered Chef oil spritzer). Baseball cap - sports ball pan, covered in fondant (directions from Confetti Cakes Book), baseball made from mini round pan (what a pain in the tushy to frost a round cake with buttercream). I hope the recipients loved this cake as much as I did!
Bride surprised Groom - he played football in college, so this was a tribute to him. (they ordered 6,8,10, 12 - she called me and asked me to turn the bottom layer into his cake - making her cake much smaller - what an unselfish bride!) Same flavor as brides cake (WASC with white chocolate ganache and strawberry fillings). Frozen buttercream transfer. Alot of fun to do!
Fondant covered, brushed embroidery hibiscus in coral and teal buttercream (freehanded), real ribbon, gumpaste lilies for topper. ALmond cake with strawberry and white chocolate ganache filling. I had lots of trouble with the cake, but am overall okay with how it turned out.
Square cakes, buttercream, diamond imprint sheet, sugar dragess at inersections, real ribbon. This bride was an absolute doll to work with! The cake is almond, with rasberry and dark chocolate ganache filling. Yummy!

Carved Cake for a Tech grad. Took forever to configure the template to get it just right. Chocolate transfer hokie bird. I love this cake! One of my favorites!
Carved guitar cake, rice krispie handle, covered with BC, Fondant accents. Only thing I would have changed is the color of the support board... the gold clashes.
Given free reign to design a cake for baby shower - only request was it was 'boy'ish. In my head, this was going to be light blue and chocolate.. funny how things rarely turn out how I picture them. Many thanks to CC members for inspiration. BC iced, with fondant accents.

Fondant covered hexagon cakes with fondant/gumpaste lighthouse, bead borders, seashells, waves and plants. Royal coral. The wedding was postponed four months due to groom to be's military deployment so I had alot of time to contemplate and worry about this one!
Boombox cake for 80's themed birthday party! First completely fondant covered cake - learned that I needed more support -the weight of the fondant kind of smooched the cake more than I thought it would. Customer loved it!!
Thanks to many CC'ers for the inspiration for this cake! Iced in buttercream using upside down method (love it!!) Fondant accents - used a mold for teddy bears. This was for my best friends sister's baby shower - her fourth child but first girl so we are thrilled for her!!
Birthday Cake for Hagar the Horrible fan! Chocolate Transfer (which was so easy to do!) . Covered in BC, Fondant sign and "60". Disclaimer: I did get permission from owners of comic strip to reproduce character...
