This was a four tier cake of Milk Chocolate and Sour Cream Almond with dark chocolate fondant stripes and eggplant satin ribbons per the bride's request.
"bella's Cake" From New Moon
I saw this cake on the trailer of New Moon last year and knew I had to make it for a show. The cake only had about 2 seconds of movie time but longer in the trailer or I wouldn't have noticed it. The original was done by Thomas Haas of Fine Chocolates in Vancouver for the movie. Mine was a show cake covered with 5 colors of green fondant stripes and gumpaste gerberas.
Square Cake With Flowers And Piping
This was a 4 tier cake with fondant/gumpaste lilies, roses, and hydrangea blossoms in watermelon, tangerine and lime colors. The cake was very simply piped in all buttercream.
Square With Edible Snowflakes
This was a four tier cake of Dark Chocolate with cream cheese filling and Chocolate Chip with Caramel filling covered with vanilla buttercream and fondant snowflakes brushed with disco dust and some painted with silver luster. The ribbons were fondant colored ice blue. Topper was 3 large fondant/gumpaste snowflakes.
Square Cake With Cranberries And Snowflakes
This was a 5 tier cake of Sour Cream Almond and Red Velvet with Cheesecake Swiss Meringue, fondant snowflakes covered with disco dust, edible glitter and Sugared cranberries.
Pool Blue And Apple Red Towering Cake
This was a 6 tier beast of a cake with layers of strawberry, Sour Cream Almond, and Milk Chocolate. Fondant Accents-the bride saw a photo in Martha Stewart's cakes and we changed colors and tiers to give her something truly unique.
Black And White Inspired By Necklace
This is a cake I did for a wedding show. I had asked Mom to send a few pieces of jewelry to inspire me. I saw this piece and couldn't resist a black and white cake.
Square Cake With Ribbons
StepOnmi's orange ribbon cake was the inspiration for this one. I think there have been others posted as well. The cake flew with me to Chicago for a NYE wedding-I blogged about it on my site. It was a 10, 8, 6" square of vanilla with Bavarian, Red Velvet with cream cheese, and double chocolate with Kahlua fudge. Thanks for the inspiration! My cousin was thrilled with the results.
Baptism Cake With Drape And Cross
Oval cake with buttercream quilting and fondant drape. Sugar pearls at cross sections.
Hexagon Cake With Pirouettes And Berry Branches
This was a simple cake that got a lot of attention at the bridal show. It was made simply with pirouette wafer cookies and berry branches. My theme was a Winter Wonderland and I loved how this looked along with the other cakes.
Sandcastle With Chocolate Shells
This was made from rounds covered with brown sugar. I prefer pecan sandies for the sand but it was a show cake. The shells are chocolate from molds brushed with dry luster dust. Turrets are paper towel tubes.
Shades Of Chocolate
This was a cake I made for the bridal show this weekend. There is no food coloring used in the chocolate fondant-only varying degrees of dark chocolate. This was made as a puzzle of sorts from squares and triangles.
I made this for a bridal show this weekend. I'm sure the inspiration came from a CC member but I don't think this is the same design. This is covered with MMF and RI snowflakes.
Piece Of Cake In Super Bright Colors
I wanted to try this style of cake after seeing so many fabulous ones on CC. I had my opportunity when my daughter's best friend turned 17. She loves pink purple and bright green. White and chocolate cakes covered with MMF which is harder than I thought to cover the spot where the piece is taken from. The kids loved it.
Laptop Cake For Groom
This was strawberry cake covered with dark chocolate homemade fondant. The back was fondant covered cardboard. The picture was printed on regular photo paper and laminated because obviously the back was inedible. This was also inspired by a few in the gallery. It took longer than I wanted it to.
This cake was inspired by so many on cake central. What a great place for ideas!! It was a 10" chocolate, chocolate buttercream, and dark chocolate homemade fondant. This was a really fun cake to make. The Happy Birthday was a FBCT.
Toolbox Cake For Marine
This was a special cake made for a friend's son who had just graduated from basic training. He is going to be an aviation mechanic in the US Marine Corps-Semper Fi!! This was inspired by several toolbox cakes here on CC. The tools are all made of chocolate and brushed with luster dust.
Nightmare Before Christmas Birthday Cake
My daughter turned 16 last week and picked the theme I despise the most. I do think the cake turned out well though. Sizes were 16, 10, and 6. Figures were made of fondant/gumpaste mix. She designed the cake-I just made it. :)
New Home For Mom
Just a little home cake for a happy home owner. The fence and little flowers are all RI. Everything else buttercream.
M&m Cake For My Amazing Sister
I looked through SEVERAL cake pics here on CC to find the perfect design for my sister's 40th birthday cake. She is the most amazing sister in the world and she LOVES peanut m&ms. We surprised her by driving 6 hours to her house and sharing a wonderful family weekend. This was a slab white cake with chocolate buttercream, covered with MMF. All figures were made with MMF and peanut m&ms were scattered when it was complete.
Ring Bearer Pillow
This was a special wedding cake for a man who found love again after his wife passed. He called me himself to make the cake when he had been engaged for 31 hours. I had free reign of colors, flavors, and design and was asked to make it "unique, elegant, and very special". It is for a small wedding, so it is a 10" square french vanilla with strawberry filling, carved and covered with MMF. These are my very first Calla Lilies also. THANKS KATHY for the how-to!!! I think this would be nice for a shower.
Puppy Dog Cake For Little Girl
This was inspired by so many cakes here on CC. I am NOT a fan of dogs but I even thought it was cute. This was a 10" round with cupcakes on top. Buttercream (and lots of it) with fondant flower accents.
Hexagon Whimsical Wedding
This was a very specific request from a bride...red, silver, and lots of shapes. She was THRILLED with the results. Cake completed with BKeith's tutorial. Bottom and top tier chocolate with mocha filling and middle white with almond filling. Buttercream with fondant accents.
This cake was completely inspired by _ChristyB_'s version of Hello Kitty. I loved her use of color and flowers. I changed the actual "kitty" and added gumpaste letters for the birthday girl's name. This was a 10" round strawberry cake with buttercream and fondant decorations. Kitty was made with Royal Icing.
