Whimsical Zebra Wedding
This is my daughters wedding cake I made in November 2011. This cake traveled 5 and a half hours, partially assembled, and carefully packed into the car along with the entire wedding itself..including the wedding gown. It arrived in perfect condition, not a scratch, and went together like a dream. This was a zebra striped marble cake, on the bottom teir, the top 2 teirs, and the others were cake dummies wrapped in fondant and hand painted. The whole cake was hand painted and covered in gumpaste daisies and dragee covered sugar flowers. The layers were twisted slightly, on purpose, to make it more whimsical and as ordered by the bride. Was really fun to do, but I was not crazy about the color scheme....what we do for our daughters! LOL TFL

Fairy Garden Cake
Project Complete!! Love the way it come out! I wish you could see the disco dust it's glowing with though...why can't they invent a camera that picks up sparkle anyways??!! This is a "work in progress"...I'll post the whole cake when I finish it. This tier is a dummy cake, since the party will only have about 8 kids at it, I saw no reason to bake a huge cake. The top of the cake will be actual cake. Keep watching... ;)

Skate Board Cake
Found this board design online, and thought it was cute. The cake is on a real skate board, wrapped in plastic. You might notice that the "air brushing" isn't perfect..that's because halfway through my airbrush gun broke on me....poor cheapy thing! I had to hand brush on the rest of the color...the birthday boy never knew the difference. It was fun to do a cake on something that isn't traditional. tfl

Juicy Couture Knock-Off Purse Cake
I did this cake a couple of weeks ago for my daughters friends birthday. Then I sent it on an 800 mile road trip in a well packed box, and it was delivered to my son...so he could eat "mom cake", not for the purse...LOL All the ex- inlaws got to see it too and thought it was very cool. My daughters boyfriend didn't realize it was a cake!! He thought it was a real purse....now that is what I call success!! ;) tfl

Baby Girl Anemone Garden
My latest and last "hurrah" for the time being. At least until I have my surgery and get my hands back....Had alot of fun using all the different ways to decorate a cake. Including, cocoa painting, sugar sculpting, ..etc. Pulled an all niter to get it done...carpel tunnel takes me away from my craft until surgery can give me back my hands...:( That's all for now folks....

An Order Of Soda And Fries Please!
I did this for my daughters best friend for her birthday this week. I got in done in 2 days, and it was a hit! All she wanted for her birthday was french fries, the party her friends were throwing was a Luau, so I combined the two! This cake was quite a feat, considering I was doing it in between taking care of our new little one. We finally got a placement ladies and gents!! Yay!!! I'll post more about that in the forums later! :)

Yw In Excellence
This is a cake that I did with my 13 year old daughter as her project for "Personal Progress" for YW in our church. The cake was also the refreshments for the event for the girls and their parents. I love how it turned out, although it's not quite as clean as I would have liked. It was fun stenciling with my girl and making her night special though. The cake is coconut cream and the filling is keylime cream. It is yummy!! The dress and shoes on the doll are all out of gum paste and stenciled with a very dark green royal icing. The stenciling on the cake is also RI. I rolled a long sheet and then cut to the height of the cake and stenciled it. I then rolled it onto my small GP roller and just rolled it off onto the sides of the cake. The cake was covered in fondant first though. The butter-cream layer is flavored with orange flavoring to inhance the tropical the flavors of the cake overall. TFL

Artists Manequinn
I did this cake last week last minute for my daughters' Graphic Art's class. One of the Seniors was having his 18th birthday and the teacher decided that it would be fun to celebrate it in class. It was also a chance for my daughter to show off her mom's "art" talent, that she's been talking about all year. The principal saw us bringing it in and gave us the "Royal treatment", showing it off to the office staffers and then a personal escort to the class for presentation. The artists mannequin is chocolate modeling clay and the sketchbook is rice cereal treats covered in fondant. The top page is gumpaste, dried and then hand sketched by my lovely daughter with edible paint. The sketch pencil is made of modeling clay too. The "book" is red velvet cake with chocolate mousse filling and covered in fondant. It got a little dinged up on the ride there, but no one seemed to notice. I had fun making it anyways, and I think I like this chocolate clay thingy!! LOL TFL

UPDATE!!: Here is the final product, just delivered on Saturday. The whole restaurant saw it and we kept hearing comments like, "Wow, it's just like one of the 'Cake Boss' cakes!" and "That looks like it came from one of those shows on the food channel!" The main thing is that the mom-to-be loved it and so did her mom who ordered it. Success! Love it! :)

Pixie Hollow Lily Pond
Did this for a birthday this last saturday for twin girls who turned 7. The topper(Tink) is a rubber top from a bottle of bubble bath. How perfect is that anyways??!! The rest of the decorations are all gum paste, my own fantasy flower creations, just for Pixie Hollow Lily Pond. I studies many photos of the Pixie Hollow movie and decided upon these designs. Of course I'd do them slightly different(the pinks ones anyways) if I had it to do over again anytime soon. The girls loved it, their mother was thrilled, and apparently the guests and their parents were amazed that the flowers were sugar. Another happy client. I did however give her a very deep discount, one which I will not be giving again. This is at least a $100 dollar cake, that the client got for just $45.00. Been doing them for her for 3 years, but I just can't afford to keep giving them for "free". Hope she understands and keeps coming back to me anyways. I think it turned out nicely. TFL

Eagle Scout Cake
This is a cake that I am delivering for tomorrow evening. Got it done a bit early with the help of my DD, whose painting it is in the background and with whose help the flag was painted. I sculpted the wings and symbol, and carved and covered the cake. She painted me the stylized flag for me. The painting in the background is hers, done for a final project last school year. My DD will be going off to the Seattle Art Institute next fall, and hopefully she will come back with her great talents increased and ready to really create some works of art with me! Woohoo! I am disappointed with my handwriting on this one. I NEED PRACTICE!!!! Hope the client loves it though! ;)

Designer Birthday
These are the cakes I just did for my twins birthday party last night. Took me 3 days. I let my daughter do some of the trim works and lettering. We both need more practice on the penmanship. The lion head is hand made from a composite sugar paste and fondant., backed by a fondant covered cake board cut to the shape of the figure. It is then hand painted with edible paint. Everyone that saw it thought it was "way cool". The other cake is a water polo ball made of chocolate, white chocolate colored orange(school color) over milk chocolate. I made a ball of a balloon covered in paper mache, and then brushed it with and dipped it in the chocolates. I broke the balloon when it was dry, but left it in because the paper mache was starting to crack the sides of the ball. The hand is a rubber glove wrapped in gum paste. It was sort of creepy to look at before it got on the cake. Everyone kept saying it looked like a severed hand left to dry. :P Buttercream icing and sugar glitter, and sparkler candles(not shown) topped them off. TFL

Designer Baby Shower
This is a cake I just finished yesterday for a customer that works in a nearby hospital and has a patient that is expecting is a few weeks(at least they hope she can last that long) and is on dialysis and in Kidney failure. She couldn't pay me very much, but I had the prompting to "go the extra mile" on this one for the mother. I finally got to try out the Damask treatment that I learned from Nick Lodge a couple of months ago in a class that I was lucky enough to attend. Everything here is completely out of gum paste, and fondant. I'm getting better at sculpting and making flowers too. My customer(who is also my friend and next door neighbor) was just floored and couldn't stop telling how fantastic is was. I was happy to do it for the new mother. TFL

Mcdaniels Wedding 2009
I loved doing this cake. I painted the scrolling on with edible paint, instead of piping it. I really love the look of it! I hope I can do more of this. It's been alot of years since I've held a paint brush in my hands...didn't think I'd remember how to paint! I did all the roses and other flowers...much thanks to my new friend Mari for helping to get them all wired on time. I had several things happen that got me behind, including a last minute redo of the bottom 2 tiers! UGGHH!! The top of the cake came off during transport, a plate covered in fondant to hold up the 2 and half pound topper.....brides just don't think about little things like that sometimes! We had to "repair" it on site, and that didn't work very well due to the fact that there was poor lighting, way too hot and a fan pointed directly on the cake!! I tried to cover it up the best I could with the ivy. I did the scrolling design to exactly match the wedding invitations. The mother of the groom thought that was a very thoughtful and beautiful touch. Don't know how the bride liked it yet. I hope she was pleased. The flower placement was not the best, but it was how she requested...I would have like to have stayed "minimal" since the scroll work is so pretty. This is my fav, and my most painful cake to date! MY HANDS ARE KILLING ME!!!! :P

Gift Box Cake
I did this cake(a stop and start project over the last week and a half) for a customer today...one of her family members is 72 tomorrow. I'm really proud of how it came out, even though I broke 2 of the bow loops trying to put them on the cake....She was absolutely stunned and thrilled with my work. She gave me an extra $20 and a great big hug when she saw it! Woohoo!! Now that's the kind of customer I love!!!

18Th B-Day
Did this mini 3 tier for my daughters friend who was 18 last month. The silver ribbon in the center tier is of gum paste with lace texture. All the silver items are painted with silver luster dust. The blossoms are painted with rose luster dust. The "diamonds" are craft rhinestones and the topper is gum paste I did free hand, you can kind of tell. I only had 1 days notice to do this cake. She loved it!!

Tasting Cakes
Did these for a tasting I had over the weekend. Bride couldn't decide if she wanted burgundy or white base, so I did one of each to show her. Her future hubby loved the burgundy...so she picked the white one....go figure. She ended up wanting white with white fondant, Black scrolling, and a mix of both colors of flowers. Gems both on the cake and in the filler flowers. Black ribbon on the cake. I think it's going to look bad with the black scrolling, but it's not my wedding...so what the heck. The cake is white with blueberry, white chocolate cream, and marionberry(oregon blackberry) filling. Yummy yummy yummy. The wedding is in May. Lots of flowers for me to make....alot of work, but alot of fun too....my new favorite tool...TWEEZERS!!! LOL

Air Brushed Christmas Cookies
I finally got to use my new air brush...not the greatest, but passable and very tasty! My family was lucky to get these this year as I am suffering from a herniated disc in my back right now. I'll post more about that in the lounge...I had alot of fun doing these...can't wait to do some for stuff with my new favorite toy!!

Disney Princess Cake Kit
Well, it was fun to do anyways...first kit I've ever used. Interesting, and very easy! The client's little twin girls turning 6 loved it! Their mom is a big fan of my cakes...she loves how moist and tasty they always are. Was well worth the $20.00 I paid for the kit on ebay...
