Here are four photos of a cake I delivered today. It was for a man celebrating his 90th birthday party. His daughter wanted to deplict several ideas of some of his favorite memories/places throughout the years - all on one cake. So, I chose to do a square cake, utilizing each side for a separate scenario. When I got there, I wasn't expecting to see a strapping handsome man that had a full head of hair, great build, no cane, no walker and, as he told me later, a full set of all his own teeth. He looked like he wasn't even 70, let alone 90. He was quite humorous and quick as a whip. I instantly fell in love with him. He, on the other hand, fell in love with his cake. Here's how it breaks down: The first scene deplicts his Irish heritage. The second scene (the top cake) features his Dalmatian dog (the love of his life!!) enjoying the local mountains and their favorite resting spot behind their home. The third scene is of Minnesota, where he was born and raised on a farm. The fourth scene is of the ocean. He loves vacationing on tropical beaches. The fifth scene is of Firestone tires. He worked for Firestone for 65 years. Imagine that.

Two cake orders - one theme? Yes! That's right. I got an order for the first Woodland Themed Baby Shower and then a call the following day, also an order for the same thing. One cake for a Reno, Nevada resident and another for a gal in Northern California. Imagine that!?!?! I wasn't going to take a picture as it was so close to the first one. But after the fact, decided to have someone take a pic for me. These two pics are from a cell phone. Sorry for the poor quality.
The photo's don't do this cake justice!! It turned out a lot cuter and was much better quality than depicted here. The flash made it look light and yellow. Ho Hum! Three 14" rounds. All decorations are MMF (fondant).
12" Cherry Vanilla Almond Cake with Cream Cheese Filling, 10" Double Chocolate Rum Cake with Raspberry Cream Filling, 8" Almond Mocha Cake with Bavarian Cream Filling, 6" Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Cream Filling. Covered and decorated with fondant. Marble effect on cake created by mixed luster dust.
11.5"x15" chocolate cake with coconut cream filling. All decorations (except for jewel on Bride's head and tiny candy leaves) are made of MMF fondant. Cake covered in MMF. Schroeder's piano is rice cereal treats covered in MMF. Fall (Autumn) themed wedding. Cake was actually for the rehearsal dinner.
Two tiered 8" round cake covered in fondant to create basket. Crumbled chocolate cake and toasted coconut to create the dirt in the pot (I don't think you can see it! LOL). Gumpaste flowers. Thanks for looking.

Colorscheme - not my idea. Flowers - not my idea. Gosh! If only Bride's would listen when we tell them that we'd like to go white on white - no color - that it would look richer and more elegant!?!?! Gosh! I guess I should've vented in a thread? LOL!!! But, seriously, don't you think that just white - on - white would've been better!!!?!?!?!? Thanks for allotting me to vent.

Carved 10"X10" square Devilishly Good Chocolate cake - torted with Raspberry filling. All decorations are MMF, brown sugar (sand) clear piping gel (water). I used: luster dust and food markers for shells, blanket, book, etc!

Very short notice cake - FREEBIE!! Soooooooo, I have to admit...not a lot of lurve, lurve, lurve (due to lack of time) was put into this cake. Definitely not what I'd have liked to have done. But, the kid was happy and surprised, just the same. Total - 2 hours - including baking. All decorations are MMF.
