Wordworld Cake
For those who haven't seen it, WordWorld is a tv show for preschoolers where letter come together to form whatever word they spell (i.e., the sheep character is made of the letters S-H-E-E-P). My friend's son loves the show (and alphabet games in general) and she thought it would be cute to do a C-A-K-E cake! All buttercream except for the letters in front.

Elliot's 4Th Birthday
I made this for my son's birthday -- we had an "outdoors" themed party at Cabela's. I was inspired by too many camping cakes on here to name, but especially by Hookste's REAL campfire - brilliant!! It was such an awesome effect. Cake is frosted in buttercream with fondant accents; tent is gumpaste; trees are buttercream on sugar cones; used chocolate rocks.

Kitchenaid Mixer
This was my entry for the cake show in Austin this weekend - I got 1st in the Adult Intermediate Sculpted cakes! Talk about shocking... it was very nearly a disaster but I ended up salvaging it. The top part of the mixer and the very bottom of the base are rice krispies, and everything in between is cake. The "batter" is royal icing.

40 And Fabulous!
This was a gift for my friend's big 40th birthday party. She wanted a white cake with raspberry filling and chocolate frosting, and left the rest up to me. After some prodding, I found out her favorite color is green (and her husband and daughters' are orange and pink), and that she loves gerbera daisies, so it pretty much designed itself after that! The flowers are silk.

1St Birthday Cupcake
This was for my baby girl's birthday (*sniff*). We did a joint party with a friend's son so we went with these unisex decorations, and the bright colors were so fun to work with! The cake is 8" and the cupcake is sculpted out of 2-6" cakes and a half ball pan. I made two smash cakes out of mini wondermold cakes. Icing is bc with fondant accents.

Buttons And Bows
I co-hosted a baby shower for 2 friends today, one is having a boy and the other b/g twins. I came up with this unisex design... well, maybe a little frilly still, but you've gotta have a pretty cake! I had originally made fondant cutouts to put on the clothesline, but they were too thick and crumbled when I tried to attach the clothespins, so I hand-drew them on cardstock at the last minute. Crusting cream cheese frosting w/fondant accents.

More Cars
This was loosely inspired by Ishi's Cars cake. It's chocolate cake with the Chocolate Decorator's Buttercream recipe from this site. Sand is grahams and sugar; rock formations are rice krispy treats iced in bc, signs are fondant (big one lettered in royal -- I'm still working on that skill!); cacti are fondant formed on lollipop sticks and iced in bc.

Scuba Diver
This was for a friend's birthday - cake is white with buttercream. Figure and sea life are fondant; shells are white chocolate; plants are fruit roll-ups; and jellies are gumdrops. Heavily borrowed from tripletmom and a cake I saw on nancysfancy's website -- thank you both for the inspiration from your wonderful creations!

Skydiving "gram"
I made this for a friend's mother who had taken her first skydiving trip just before her 59th birthday. I just had this "vision" of what I wanted and was so happy to pull it off - she is actually suspended in the air! I made a photo collage because there wasn't really one good angle to show everything. Cakes are lemon with cream cheese frosting and fondant accents.

Thank Heaven ...
I have wanted to do this cake ever since adding Kitrn's version to my favorites a couple months ago, and finally got my chance - just "girled" it up a bit! Chocolate chip cake w/ bc and fondant accents. Sculpture is fondant. The color is a bit off, the icing is more of a light violet than blue.

Bunny Baby Shower
I made this cake for my sister's shower... it was based off of her crib bedding, which had patches of pink and white stripes/dots/floral. Cake was WASC with raspberry filling, cake is iced in bc with fondant accents. I "cheated" on the tissue paper and the tiny pearls on the A, and the lid is a styrofoam dummy.

Baby Blocks For Boy
This was for a friend's baby shower, her nursery theme was going to be Vintage Firetruck by Wendy Bellissimo, so I tried to match the color scheme and elements. Cake is WASC (my first time - OMG, I love this cake!) with strawberry cream cheese filling, iced with bc. Sculpture and accents are fondant/gumpaste mix.

Birthday Flowers
I made this for a friend's birthday - she's pregnant and has been craving orange, so I made the Cake Doctor's "Fresh Orange Cake" and used the Crusting Cream Cheese icing recipe from this site, with orange extract substituted for vanilla. It was the most fantastic tasting cake I've made yet! Flowers and bow are a fondant/gumpaste mix.

Cupcake Bouquet
Thanks Cambo for introducing these! I've been dying to try it and did 2 for my son's preschool teachers. After a few cupcake casualties, they made it to school safely. I had some issues with the liners pulling away (and the cupcake falling off as a result). Also, on some of the larger cupcakes that had formed a slight "lip" over the liner, the entire top of the cupcake fell off after the added weight of the bc. So, I will be sure not to fill my liners as full next time, and maybe look for a heavier liner.

Wooden Cake
My friend requested a "piece of wood" for her husband who does woodworking... I tried to be as creative with it as I could (and I'm very pleased with what I managed to come up with!). Chocolate cake is covered in bc and Satin Ice. I carved the woodgrain in and painted with gel colors and luster dust. Chisel is sculpted from fondant as well. Wood "shavings" are white chocolate curls. I wish I'd gotten the carved letters painted a little more neatly, but at least it's supposed to be from the kids!
