Leaving Cake
I saw this cake in a sugarcraft magazine and just happened to have a friend whose sister is leaving New Zealand tonight to go back to live in Utah. Given that we are a country with a gazillion sheep I thought this would go down well at her leaving lunch. I need to say A HUGE thank you to Aine2 who gave me a picture by picture tutorial on how to cover a cake & the cake board. I think it looks so much more professional. I have always been really scared to attempt it. She showed me step by step a really easy way to do this. This free tutorial will be shown on her blog in the next few days for everyone to share. Lorraine you are just too fabulous for words!!!

First Bride
I am thinking about entering a cake competition (my first) which is in three weeks time. Its at a Farmers Market Fair - first prize is a whopping $8 (thats about $5us) LOL. It will be in the novelty wedding cake section. I used the instructions out a Lindy Smith book, but as its so hot and humid here she sunk down into herself which made her look like she has no legs! Back to the drawing board I guess :)

Baby Cake
This is a cake for a colleague at work who is leaving to study full-time to become a midwife. Hence the To a life of Miracles. My house was littered with Aine2 cake photos. You are such an inspiration! Also thanks to Katskakes for sharing some clay modelling instructions with me (the little teddy)

Policeman
Boy I wish Wilton would give full instructions on the variations of their pans, I find this sooooo difficult! Had to change the uniform to match our coppers here in NZ. Its for my BIL - his birthday was while we were away a few weeks ago and this is a last minute BBQ. So here is my last minute cake!!!! Oh dear

This is the first of THREE cakes I am making for a friends birthday tonight. I couldnt decide which cake I wanted to make so I am doing all three!!! This is a dummy cake so she will be able to take it home with her. I cant post a cake with a figure on it without thanking Aine2 without her I would have never ventured into the modelling world :)

Cake For Mum
This cake Ive made for my mum. She loves roses. I had terrible trouble with the buttercream so the squiggly lines were an attempt to cover up the horrid icing job it did! I need to say a BIG thank you to Sweet_as_tisse who let me bombard her with questions about flowers and cake jewellery over the last two nights! This is nothing like what I had planned but then most of my cakes take a dramatic twist somewhere along the line! (dont want to make another rose for a very long time!)

2Nd Chocolate Wrap
Another mud cake with a chocolate wrap, chocolate slabs, chocolate curls chocolate ganache. This is the second one of three mud cakes I have to make this Christmas. Thanks to Sweet_as_tisse giving me her mud cake recipe I now get asked to make this. Now that ShirleyW has taught me how to do a wrap they will never be plain again!

Poor Santa!
Santa has been enjoying a little too much Christmas cheer hes now stuck up the chimney. Not sure if you can see in this photo but Santa is hanging with his feet off the ground. This is an 8 inch square fruit cake (with the end cut off and then tipped on its side), the mantelpiece is the cake, covered in fondant with gumpaste & fondant decorations. This is a surprise for my in-laws on Christmas day. The backing is wrapping paper was supposed to look like wallpaper. All edible.
