A Real Cake Wreck
Client requested a wrecked car with a 50 on it, along with another wrecked car, a deer, a horse, and an ice cream cone. Apparently his sister, who is turning 50, has a less than stellar driving record. I tried to make it less than morbid....not sure if I succeeded, but he seemed to like it. You can't see in the picture, but between the cars I even put broken tail light stuff on the pavement plus there are bits of paint from each car on the other. Somehow I can picture this ending up on Cake Wrecks. Sigh...

3D Alien Cake
Cake is on a cake board that is held up by metal piping. Neck, shoulders and chin done in RKT covered in modeling chocolate. Top part of head is cake and all is covered in Fondariffic fondant dyed grayish green and airbrushed with green pearl dust. Board is black fondant with silver dragee "stars" and pearl dust "light". Used my Cricut to do the message. Hope she likes it!

Hm....that'll Show Me.
My failed entry to the Queen City Sugar Art Show. I didn't even enter it, I'm so embarrassed. It is iced in RI and brush embroidered. The flowers are gumpaste and they were assembled badly. Sigh....maybe next year. *edited to add* I've been shamed by my daughter into entering this. I've decided to add 3 flowers to help hide the gaps and some little piped ones on the actual cake. Not a quality I'd like to enter in a contest....but now I can't let her down. I'll post a finished picture later. **** evidently one person's disaster is another person's success. This scored a gold in the show. I am apparently a dunce.

Tom And Jerry Cake
Client wanted Tom and Jerry, but I couldn't get permission, so she got an edible image. Decorated a 2 layer 9x13 as a hunk of cheese. Airbrushed the whole thing, put little mice footyprints all over and a mouse butt and another mouse's nose and whiskers poking out of the holes. Hope she likes it.

3D Bowling Ball And Pin.
All cake except for the bottom 2 inches of each, which was Rice Krispies and candy melts, slathered with royal icing. Pin is buttercream, ball is fondant. Both free hand carved from stacked pound cake. I'm not happy with the quantity of marbeling I was able to achieve with this bowling ball, but I'm out of time.

My Daughter's Birthday Cake
This should go in the "Disasters" section, really. If it had been a paying client, I would have had to refund her money. It was supposed to be 3 tiers and have a "Maggie". The top tier crumbled into a pile of chocolate crumbs and icing for reasons unknown to this caker. The Maggie broke into 4 pieces when I picked it up to paint it. The ribbon wasn't wide enough to cover all the foamcore. Sigh....my daughter says she loves, it though. I hope it transports ok! Bellydancing hip scarf on top tier with her nickname "Doodle" and the Fleur de Lis represent her fave football team. The bottom tier is representative of Vera Bradley bags, and the border is done like her beloved hula hoop. She loves cats, hence the kitten. Phew! I should mention that she designed it herself,

Thomas The Train At Brendam Docks
Client requested a cake with train tracks and harbor, with Thomas, Salty, Harvey, Cranky, and a barge and a storage shed on it. As of now, still waiting on the dang shed to dry, and am not all that sure where the heck it will go. I really hope she likes it, 'cuz it took me 4 freaking days to finish these characters! It's a half sheet with piping gel for water. I got permission to use the characters.
