Heather & Matt
I finally got to do another wedding cake! 10", 8", and 6" tiers, all fondant with fondant accents and silver dragees for the flower centers. Inspired by a beautiful cake from veragatafera here on CC. Comments and constructive criticism are always appreciated. Thank you for looking!
Grandma's 86Th Birthday
My first buttercream cake in what seems like forever! I'm just never happy with my smoothing, but this one finally turned out okay. All fondant accents. Flowers are from a hydrangea cutter, and leaves are the tips off of a rose calyx cutter. 10" WASC, Sugarshack's amazing buttercream, and fondant covered board. Comments and constructive criticism are always greatly appreciated! Thanks for looking!
Teacher Appreciation '08
This was a bit of a rush job for the Teacher Appreciation luncheon at our Elementary school today. 10" round, everything fondant except for the ribbon border. Comments and constructive criticism are always welcome! TFL!
Sophia's Hello Kitty Princess
Worked with a friend on this one. She baked and covered the cake and made the bows, I did the topper, the swags, and put it all together. If someone would do the baking for me all the time that'd definitely be the way to go! lol Thanks for looking! Comments and constructive criticism are always appreciated!
My first (and, I hope, last!) guitar cake! Order was for a blue electric guitar with not-so-girly flowers. This is life-size, carved from two 12x18 sheet cakes, WASC covered in buttercream and FondX. Only things not edible are the strings and the tacks holding them in. HUGE thanks to everyone on CC who helped me with all of my questions! Comments and constructive criticism are greatly appreciated!
Mom's "ugly" Vase
This was a very last minute cake for my Mom's birthday. Probably looks a little odd to the outsider but there is a story behind it! My mom collects what we call "ugly vases" that she picks up in antique stores and estate sales. Her rule is they can't cost more than a few dollars and the uglier the better. So I made her one out of gumpaste in her favorite color. The rose is small because my dad has a habit of picking tiny single blossoms and putting them in bigger vases in the window. Comments welcomed!
This was for my friend's baby shower this past weekend. 10", 8" stacked. Top is covered in Pettinice chocolate fondant, the rest is Fondx. Done to match her nursery colors and the striped tableware. Comments and constructive criticism are always appreciated! Thanks for looking!
Motocross theme for a little boy's 7th birthday. Cake is 10", everything done in fondant. I had a lot of fun with this one! Comments and constructive criticism are always appreciated!
Close-up of the topper for a motocross birthday cake last weekend. Everything done in fondant.
My first wedding cake! Design credit has to go to SScakes here on CC! (Thank you for your help!) Cake is 12", 9", 6", all 4" tiers. Huge thanks to Sugarshack for her buttercream recipe and dvd! (It's like American Express or something...don't make cakes without it!) Thank you ladies, I couldn't have done it without you!
My son requested a "Shark Week" cake for his 5th birthday this year. He was very specific in that he wanted a tiger shark, a great white, and a hammerhead shark along with scuba divers and every other little detail you see right down to the bubbles. I was actually pretty satisfied with how it turned out. Comments and constructive criticism are always welcomed! TFL!
My ds turned 5 and wanted to take a shark cake to school. For the sake of the teacher who would have to serve the darn thing, I talked him into cupcakes. We went really simple with these because he has his big "Shark Week" cake coming this weekend. TFL!
Did this for my cousin's 5yo daughter this weekend. She wanted "purple and butterflies and all colors" so this is what I came up with. 12" WASC, covered in fondant with fondant/gumpaste butterflies, details in royal icing. Comments and constructive criticism are always welcomed!
