Cookie Christmas Wreath
NFSC with Antonia74's icing. These were a huge hit at the family Christmas gathering yesterday, and I've been informed that these will be my contribution to any family get-together from now on. :P I made a bunch of large and small holly leaves, then had a bazillion 'bite size' cookies decorated up. The kids helped me pick out with 'decorations' to put on the wreath, and where. Once the pictures were taken and everyone had seen it, it was devoured. :)

Dots!
This one was a learning experience... ALWAYS get a paint chip, napkin, plate, or something, if the folks want a very specific color. 'Hydrangea blue' covers a LOT of different colors. I ended up taking the cake, with just fondant, and finishing it on site. Live and learn. :P The inspiration was the wedding cake from 'Because I Said So', only in the bride's colors. Red velvet cake with homemade buttercream, covered with MMF, and with MMF dots (brown, not chocolate!) and buttercream blue dots.

Side 2 Of My Wedding Practice Cake
The other side of the same cake. Again, same top tier, but different bottom tier. I think it would look better taller, or at least not on a plate with an up-curving side. Will try it again soon without the fancy plate. :P yellow cake, snow white buttercream, Royal Icing roses. TFL

Side 1 Of My Wedding Practice Cake
I did two sides to this cake, trying out two different looks for the bottom, with the same look on the top. Comments are welcome, as to which you like better. This will be my wedding cake, and I have 7 weeks to get it right! LOL Yellow cake, snow white buttercream, royal icing roses. TFL

Arwen's Baby Shower
Baby shower cake for my baby cousin's shower today. :) She's having a little boy, so I did the delphenium blue background. Found these wonderful molds and had to use them, then found pictures of pre-cut cakes... decided that it would be neat to have each piece individually decorated, with it's own candy. The buttercream color matched the candies perfectly! The candy is a white chocolate mint that I found in the nearby cake and candy shop. Yum! TFL

Marion's Bridal Shower, Personal Cake
My friend Marion is a diabetic, so I was asked to do a small sugar-free or low-sugar cake for her. This was the Pillsbury 50% less sugar recipe yellow cake, with chocolate fudge frosting (also 50% less sugar). Fondant daisies with buttercream leaves and vines. The bride LOVED it, as did another diabetic guest who got to share this. 6" and 4" cakes.

Marion's Bridal Shower
A gift to the bride, a good friend of mine. She LOVES daisies. There were daisies all over the house for the shower, and she loved her cake. Yellow cake, buttercream icing, covered in fondant with curlicue pattern on it. Royal icing daisies and roses, buttercream leaves and vines. 10" and 6" cakes. Top tier was strawberry.

First Time With The 2 Tier Mini Pan
Had a devil of a time trying to figure out how to put the fondant on this sucker! :P Ended up doing it by tiers. My fondant was kind of dry, so it cracked in a few places, but I tried to hide those with the fondant drapes. First time doing those, too. Need practice. :P But all in all, I love my new mini-tier pan. Must get more of those, so I can make more at once! :) Thanks for looking!

Basket Of Flowers
inspired by a Wilton cake (that one was heart-shaped, but I tried to do everything else by the book). I had so much fun with this cake!!!! Making all the royal icing flowers... but I love basketweave, and getting to do floral arranging and cake decorating at the same time was just FUN. :) This was just a practice cake. Butter recipe golden cake, buttercream icing.

Twins' Birthday
My two best friends are twin sisters... they both love purple and white. makes it really easy to decorate for them. :) This was my first time using the pattern presses. I was very rushed to finish this cake... it was a last minute deal, and unfortunately, it fell over during transport to their house for the party, so it didn't look very nice when it got there. This was last year.

Diane's Graduation Cake
This cake was to celebrate the graduation of my MIL, Diane, from college. She found out that she had enough credits, just a semester early, so we scrambled to get her a party together. Ironically, I had just won the carousel cake pan on e-bay, and had bought it specifically to save for her graduation cake. The very next day, she told us that she had earned her degree early! This was my first time doing ropes, so I need work on those, and it was also my first character cake.

Close Up Of Roses And Greenery
A close up of the roses and greenery, and cornelli lace. I learned that it's best to do a crumb coat if doing red velvet cake. The cornelli lace does a decent job of hiding the bits of crumb that showed. Fortunately, the bride and groom loved it enough that they didn't mind a few crumbs.
