Navy Seal Trident
I was asked to do a retirement cake for a friend that was retiring as a Master Chief from SEAL team six. They wanted a trident on the cake which is a very important symbol to the teams, and I thought about turning down the job afraid that I couldn't do it justice. But in the end, I figured "it's just cake" and they would appreciate whatever I could do. Using an actual trident pin (at top) as a model, I worked on it in stages over days. It was quite time consuming but I figure with the service and sacrifice these men make for our country, it was well worth it.

Mom's Cake 2011 Pcc
Surprise Mother's day cake for a mother's day party at the local PCC, which my mom was helping to organize. Since I had to work and couldn't attend, I wanted to do something special for mom. They were so ecstatic as they had only ordered a sheet cake for the party. Funny, I heard they only cut and served the sheet cake, I don't know what the fate of this cake was...12, 9 and 6 inch white fondant tiers with 10 and 8 inch chocolate fondant tiers, gumpaste anemone flower.

Another Strange Bday Request..2009
Another cake for Mel from Al. They like to have cakes based on their interests and hobbies which was gem digging this time. I made the geodes and amethysts from poured sugar and fondant. Gumpaste oyster shell, axe, shovel, pearls. Cake crumbs for dirt. I don't know how others put sugar gems on cakes without them melting from the moisture of the BC...The camera did not do justice to the details.

Jen And Rich's Celebration Cake
My brother never got to have a wedding, so when we had a party in honor of my mother in 2010, I made a little cake celebrating their union as well. The gumpaste butterflies are the Virginia Swallowtail and the Colorado Hairstreak, official state insects, representing my brother from Virginia and his wife from Colorado. The tiny butterfly is for their daughter, Chloe. Choc wrap cake with gumpaste accents.

Mom's Birthday 2007
One of the first package cakes and bow cakes I ever did. Now that I use Magic Line square pans, I see a major difference in my square cakes. That, and a few years more experience...All buttercream except square fondant package cake on top. This top cake is still in mom's freezer, lol! I told her to throw it away, I can make a much better one for her whenever she wants.
