Second wedding cake--still hate squares! All BC with gold dragees. Fresh flowers furnished by the bride--wish they had been a shade of pink. Learned a lesson with this one--never rewhip BC icing, it gets full of air and doesn't look as smooth even though it still crusts nicely! TFL.
80's Theme Cake
80's theme birthday cake. Still working on gettin the topsy-turvy thing down!! I printed out movie posters, glued two together front & back and hung on wires. Painted 80's sayings on the bc & orange fondant.
Puppy Birthday Cake
BC icing with fondant ears, nose and collar. Used the lamb 3D pan as the base and them made modifications to the face and added legs and tail. I was inspired by the cake I found on CC by rydersmom.
Halloween Birthday Jack-O-Lantern
Chocolate cake with BC icing and fondant stem and leaves. Gummy worms and spiders.
My first books and first completely fondant covered cakes. Thanks to SweetcakesTB and sjlarby for all their input, suggestions and gorgeous cakes that inspired me. This was allot harder than I had anticipated and didn't turn out as nice as I wanted. The bride was an English major and wanted these authors. The reception was at a wine bistro and the walls were lined with wine boxes--not such a great background, but different! Oh, I did receive great emails from the parents of the bride : )
Class Final Cake
Final Cake for Wilton Fondant & Gumpaste Class. I love the look of drapes but I am going to needs ALOT of practice before mine look like others here on CC. The gumpast ecarnations were fun, but the class doesn't teach as many flowers as I was hoping.
Course 3 Final Cake
Fondant is so much fun to work with, but very unforgiving. You certainly can't just fix a boo-boo as with BC. Lost a few rose petals on the trip back home from class but otherwise I was pleased with this one. I rushed too much on my brushed embroidery but I plan on doing alot more practice so I can do as well as others on CC. Can't wait for the Fondant & Gumpaste class to start!
I have a new respect for those of you who do 3-D/carved cakes on a regular basis! All the crumbs--UGH! It was a learning experiece and fun, too. 2 sheet cakes stacked w/BC icing.
Customer supplied a piece of wrapping paper for this design. My first time using Super Pearl--I am hooked!
First "stacked Presents" Cake
I agree with previous posts--square cakes are a challenge! Is there a secret to perfectly square edges?! This was for my best friend's daughter and I wanted it perfect, but this is a close as I could get. I was pleased with how my first bow turned out--that was the only fun part of this cake. I am making her groom's cake, too, which is this same design but with one more smaller layer--and also square. Please help with any "square-ing" suggestion. Thanks.
Last minute idea for my son's birthday cake so the icing isn't as smooth or table top as "flat" as it should be. I painted white gumballs with acrylic craft paint for the pool balls. Sanded & painted a wood cake dowl for the cue stick. He loved it!
