End Of Summer Beach Birthday
This is a pic of a cake that has been on my camera since last summer, just now got around to getting that roll put on a disc. This cake was fun to do and a learning experience. I found out from the family that gel coloring tastes funny, if I do another cake like this I would probably just use blue frosting and not the gel.

Whimsical Wedding Cake
This was my first real attempt at a whimsical cake and boy was it a pain in the neck!!! The didn't want the cake covered in fondant and it has been betwen 95-100 deg here in Montana for the past week. The frosting would not hold up outside the fridge, so I kept having to put it in and out while decorating. I only charged a $100 for it because I was really disappointed in how it looked. The accents are fondant covered w/ luster dust and the flowers were purchased off the sugarcraft site.

Harley Davidson Groom's Cake
This cake is modeled after a lot of other groom's cakes that I've seen and loved (thanks to all of you who have made one like this - you were my inspiration). The bride only specified that she wanted it to have the Harley logo on it and that it be chocolate. She initially was thinking a sheet cake, but really didn't care how I designed it. I'm happy with how this turned out. The reception was held at our local Harley Dealership (in their banquet facilities).

Red Ribbon Cake
Sour cream white cake w/ huckleberry BC filling. This cake, even though simple, gave me fits!!!. I made my BC too thin and it just wouldn't handle the right way and had lots of air bubbles. The other thing I learned is the next cake I do with ribbon on it I;m going to make sure the ribbon is not wired. You just can't get the ribbon to lay perfectly flat, even after ironing it.

Blue Squares With Stars
I had a hard time making this cake because I just don't like this color and then having to hand pipe a bazillion little stars on it. Not to mention the bride said "I'd lots of little stars, think no bigger than your thumbnail" Arrrrgh!!!! Needlesss to say my hand had cramps. I did talk you out of putting dark red roses all over it as well. I suggested it might be getting a little too busy. Oh well, it came together better than the cakes looked individually.

Chocolate Explosion Cake
This is a cake done for a lady at work, it was her husband's birthday. It is VERY similar to a cake I did for mother's day, but I wanted to post this one because I am getting better with my ganache technique. It was prety smooth this time and the buttercream underneath did not melt.

Baby Booties And Onesie
I've been dying to make this cake. Ever since I say the one done by llee on this site it's been one of my favorites. I have to say her onesie and booties are better than mine but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out for my first try. The writing is painted on with silver luster dust and the booties are painted with pearl luster dust.

Elk Fbct Made With Cream Cheese Bc
This was another hunting/camo/elk cake for a friends husband (can you tell hunting is big around here?). I wanted to try the 3-d deer cake but just didn't have the time. The cake is sour cream white w/ huckleberry cream cheese filling. The frosting is cream cheese/BC.

Chocolate Tuxedo Groom's Cake With Strawberries
This cake gave me fits!!! The frosting is whipped ganache and I could not get it smooth for the life of me. And of course the chocolate fondant lapel had to crack after I placed it on the cake :( Oh well. This picture was taken before I had all the strawberries around the cake so it was filled in a little more.

Sunflower Wedding Cake
This is the wedding cake that stressed me out this weekend. Wedding party called 50 min before they wanted the whole thing set up . . . . a whole 2 hours ahead of schedule :( 4 different flavors: marble w/ mocha BC, lemon poppyseed w/ citrus BC, spice w/ BC, and sourcream white w/ huckleberry BC. I think the flowers are a little too big but that's what they left for me to put on it. The figurine is a bride and groom moose.

Fair Entry - Dinosaur Candy Melt Cake
The theme of our fair was "Get Wild with Your Inner Child" and dinosaurs. So I tried to use that in a cake idea. The cakes are dummies. The frosting is just crisco buttercream. The dinosaurs are dyed candy melts. It won a blue ribbon in the children's cakes category and then a rosette for "Best Demonstration of Fair Theme"

Fair Entry - Basketweave With Fondant Roses
I almost didn't do this cake for the fair, but I got a lot of compliments for a cake I did for a friend like this one. It's a dummy cake, crisco buttercream (because they weren't going to eat it) and handmade fondant roses dusted with pink petal dust. It won blue ribbon for the category of special occasion cakes and then a blue rosette ribbon for judge's choice.

Fair Entry -Snowflake Cake
This was a dummy cake covered in MMF. I did a horrible job smoothing the fondant around the bottom, just couldn't get it to work!!!!! So I covered as much of the mistakes with the ribbon. Snowflakes were piped on with royal icing and then painted with luster dust mixed with vodka. Those darn snowflakes were trouble too - I must have broken 20 of them to get the few I did on top. I won a blue ribbon for the category, but I really was disappointed with how it turned out.
