Matthew's 16Th
I made this for my son's sixteenth birthday. He is belted in two martial art disciplines. This cake represents him in his current pursuit - Tae Kwan Do., his kicking bag, equipment bag, and the boards he splits with a swift kick. I had recently corresponded with (Aine2) who is such a gracious lady! I decided to use her method for faces as she details on her website. I LOVE the results!

Roy's Cake
I made this for my husband's boss. Their division has had a rough start to the year with projected numbers and forecasting. There are many late nights at work --to the point of utter exhaustion-- hence my version of this Beachcakes inspired cake. I thank her for her talent which she is so gracious about sharing.

Gingerbread Gifts
Just now getting around to uploading pictures... I make these as gifts at Christmas. This is for the family for whom I work. In the back of the house you see the three gumdrop "trees" which represent the twin girls and their little brother. Fun to make. The kiddos are starting to ask each year about when their house will be finished... : )

Hannah's Enchanted Tree
Inspired by Debbie Brown's Enchanted Tree, I made this cake for a baby girl who shares my birthday. I made chocolate fondant for this cake vs. tinting brown -- that was a first! I think the fondant tasted like a Tootsie Roll. Yum, much tasting ensued. The baby Flower Fairy has crawled into the nest and is admiring the egg she found. Mama bird is quite upset... bunnies know baby is in for a lecture, as does baby's teddy bear!

Shower Invitation
I was asked to make a cake that closely resembled the bride's shower invitation (as seen in picture.) Lemon cake torted with strawberry cream cheese. BC with fondant embellishments (flowers and pearl border.) My BC crusted very quickly so I'm not thrilled with the overall texture - had I known it would crust that fast I would have finished the surface differently.

Wile E. Coyote And Road Runner
This is a version of the Debbie Brown cake. My customer didn't want fondant covered cakes so I "roughed up" bc to make the cliffs look craggy. This whole cake was a challenge as moisture in the air wreaked havoc on drying time of fondant and gumpaste and those figures need to set up days before placing them! Special thanks to "PB" for her kindness and her cake which is so close to the original it's unreal! Oh, to be that good someday. Sigh.

Gingerbread House Lodge Style
It took me forever to remember where I had this picture... turns out it was on my phone so it's a little blurry, but not too bad. I like this particular house because of the brick indentations, and the overall "lodge" look/feel it has to it. It was my personal favorite from last Christmas.

Fall Leaves
These are some of the cookies I made to take to a family reunion. I started them this evening for tomorrow so flooding or painting was out of the question! Instead, I used marbled fondant to save time. I really like the outcome. I want to thank, especially, KHalstead, for her gracious reply to my inquires and the beautiful leaves that first inspired me. This is such an awesome place to gleen ideas and everyone is so kind about sharing. These are NFSC and MMF.

Flower_Fairies_Resized.jpg
This cake was inspired by the Debbie Brown version; however, I wanted to incorporate autumn into the scene. It was made as a birthday gift for the woman for whom I baby-sit. The flower fairies are sculpted to resemble her fraternal twin daughters and their baby brother. I had never done a flower fairy before and am super pleased with the results! The flower fairy tutorial on this site is awesome! This was a fun cake! Decadent dark chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream filling.

Donna's Knitting Basket
I used one Wilton Fanci Fill cake pan for the top layer of this cake along with an 8" layer for the bottom to create the effect of a basket. It is a spice cake with white chocolate buttercream center, and light chocolate buttercream basketweave. All accessories are fondant. The needles are fondant covered bamboo skewers dusted in silver. The woman this basket represents runs marathons (her number represented), interprets for the deaf, loves dogs and -of course- knits like a fiend!

We Will Never Forget
I made this chocolate chip heart-shaped cookie cake for the father of the little guy I baby-sit. He is a Fireman. I wanted the guys at the firehouse to know how much we appreciate what they do for us day in and day out, and especially wanted them to know that, all over America, we will never forget the huge numbers of their fellow firemen who sacrificed their lives to save others on that fateful Tuesday, 6 years ago, today.

Brenda's Prayer Closet
This cake was inspired by my friend's assertion that her Prayer Closet is her bathtub due to the fact that it is the only place she can go in her busy household and know she won't be disturbed. Dreamcicle Cake, custard filling, fondant figure and tub, buttercream water. I had no idea there were so many bathtub cakes out there! Thanks for all the ideas from posters on this site.

Fair_Cakes_011.jpg
This is a cake I submitted in competition at the Kentucky State Fair. The theme was: Holiday Cake. I love to make gingerbread houses, so I incorporated a handcrafted house into my design. The tiles on the roof are hand cut from gumpaste. I placed third overall! This was my first competition and was tickled with the honor.
