Pool Party
I made this cake for the twins I baby-sit. They were to have a grand pool party for their seventh, but it got "washed out" due to weather. : ( The figures represent the girls, their rascally brother (the slide bandit) and their cousin. Figures are gumpaste/fondant combo. They loved their cake even though they did not get to go to the "real" pool. Thanks to all the great pool cakes that have come before this one -- I was inspired by so many!

Another Hamburger Cake
This was made for my husband's office cookout. The figure represents his boss who hosts the event at his home each year. The figure is my tallest standing so far... he comes in at 8 inches! The grill is RKT covered in fondant, spaghetti grate, sugar crystal coals. The board is covered in individual squares cut to resemble check tablecloth. Buttercream except for the cheese slices and olives. The patty is a brownie. Bottom layer and brownie were baked in 8" rounds. Top bun is carved bowl cake.

Zebra Mom
This is a Mother's Day cake I made for the girl for whom I baby-sit. For her b-day, I made zebra-stripe flip flops with lime green daisies... I wanted to keep the theme here so I use the lime green as the background color and added a punch of additional color with the gumpaste roses. The cake itself is a buttermilk (dark) chocolate with a malted milk ball filling. Thanks for looking!

Kentucky Derby Run For The Roses Cupcakes
I made these cupcakes as favors for my Derby guests. Each rose is created from gumpaste. The cupcakes themselves are Italian Cream Cake with luscious cream cheese buttercream. Leaves are bc accents. The cupcake collars were made by utilizing the collar template so graciously submitted by gabbycakes. I found scrapbooking paper in my theme and used that to fashion the collars. Thanks for looking!

Star Wars Chewbacca
Chewbacca. I didn't have a coloring book from which to refer, so I had my son draw one for me from an internet picture. His version was dead-on accurate, but when I used piping gel to get the transfer, I think I cut off a little of the height of Chewy's forehead. I still love him though... maybe he's not Chewy, but just another Wookie? LOL Mommyerin's cake was my inspiration for this. Thanks for looking!

My 25Th Wedding Anniversary
My husband and I have been married 25 years today! To celebrate, we are going to dinner at a fancy steak place. I had the pleasure of being able to make our own cake for dessert! The vintage topper is from our original cake. My husband does not like fondant, so I used Indydebi's buttercream... works so beautifully. Thanks for looking!

Leasa's Cake
My friend never gets a cake. She's always on the "making" end of one so I decided to turn the tables on her this year! The topper reflects her crazy life. She's a bit of a Bohemian, teaches college Psychology, manages to accrue birds and reptiles as well as the standard pets, keeps the books at her daughter's gymnasium, has a "To Do" lists the length of her arm and loves the Lord with all her heart. She's my Sister-in-Christ and my dear, dear friend. Leasa, this one's for you!

Crown Of Thorns
This was made for a gentleman who portrays a Roman Soldier in our Easter Passion Play in our church each year. He has been doing this for many years and carves out about six weeks of his daily routine to do so. His fellow soldiers wanted to acknowledge his dedication with a cake. The crown of thorns and stakes are fashioned from gumpaste. The cake is buttercream sponged to resemble a slab of rock. (My husband didn't want the cake covered in fondant because, "We're just a bunch of guys who wouldn't get the whole fondant thing..." ) I had to laugh at that.

Cowboy Birthday
This cake was made for the little guy I baby-sit. I derived so much inspiration from all the awesome Western/Cowboy cakes from this website --so thanks to all you great designers! The cakes are 6", 8" and 12" (square.) The top tier is imprinted with the paisley mat. The cut outs on the middle tiers are part of the Western Ice Cream Cookie mold set from Williams Sonoma. My son is an awesome sketch artist so he helped me out with the wanted poster which is wafer paper sketched with food color pen. Thanks for looking!

Gingerbread Potting Shed
This was my other entry to the Queen City Sugar Arts Show. It took first place in Techniques Not on a Cake - Other, and Best of that Division. It was created from both light and dark gingerbread. All flowers are created from gumpaste. I just wanted to set out to show that Gingerbread is NOT just for Christmas! Special thanks to Fairytale for helpful pointers regarding competing with gingerbread! Thanks for looking!

Coral Birthday
I made this for a good friend of mine. The decorations are gumpaste. I layered the open rose with the cherry blossom and modified the brushed embroidery technique to add texture to the petals. I collect antique buttons and made molds of some for the centers of the flowers and for the "medallions" randomly placed on the cake. The cake itself is what I call "Banana Fanana." It is a sour cream banana cake with a surprise cookie center, cream cheese buttercream and homemade white chocolate fondant.. Thanks for looking!

Ava's Birthday
I made this 1st Birthday cake for my niece who was born a preemie a year ago --so this was a real celebration cake as there were days that were very iffy in the beginning!!! I based the design on the book: Princess Baby by Karen Katz. As well, her room is decorated in brown and pink toile, so the cake is my Triple Chocolate Decadence with strawberry buttercream. Thanks for looking!

Gone To The Dogs!
I made this for a teacher friend who wanted to give her groom a cake representing the zoo he was marrying into! Each of her dogs are represented on this cake, as well as her cat, the class bunny and (hard to see in the picture) her birds and fish. The spine of the book reads: Science - her specialty.

Cupcake Wedding
This was a first all around... my first gum paste roses (Edna a.k.a. Tonedna gets all the credit for these as I studied her videos on YouTube diligently,) my first wedding, my first massive number of cupcakes! The cupcakes were coated in hand-dyed crystals (rock candy) per instructions by Elisa Strauss in her Confetti Cakes book. The cuppies were Italian Cream, Wedding White, and Strawberry Fields. The topper cake is what I like to call an "Eternity Cake." It's a dummy cake utilizing the roses.

Montana Bears
Each year we go to Montana to volunteer at a ranch that is home to troubled teens. There are two teams that go in June and then gather to share pictures, stories, and good food in July. I made this cake for the reunion party. It depicts the rocks of the Mission Range of the Rockies, the black bears on the ranch and the long horn sheep found in Glacier National.

Wizard Of Oz Wedding
This is a wedding shower cake! The bride's whole shower theme is Oz. It contains all the characters, but being respectful of CC's request to not post more than one picture, I've only posted this one. Other shots of each character can be found on the website listed in my signature. Thanks for looking!
