Upside Down Method Cake Practice
I experimented with the upside down method and found it to work GREAT! I had the most beautiful clean sharp edges! I got a bit carried away with some extra buttercream and covered them up however I am pleased as punch with the icing results!! I have never been able to get such a clean smooth finish before trying this. Thank you for taking a look.

This is a double chocolate 6" cake with b/c icing. I am practicing getting the bc smooth. I was quite happy with the top and then I went and covered it up :) Also, I only have 1 6" pan so I had to cut down the other layer and it wasn't such a good fit so the cake was a bit off to begin with. My guys said it tasted great though so I was glad about that. The little roses on top were practices I did a couple weeks ago. Just stuck them up there for looks.

Nebraska Football Fanatic
Some of you gave me some ideas for the baby shower cookies I wanted to make and send to my neice for her baby shower this weekend. This is what I came up with. They are expecting a baby girl and her name is Kiley. Her room is decorated already in a Nebraska motif. I thought I'd use that idea but "girly" it up a bit. Thanks everyone for suggestions and thanks for looking.

This is my 3rd attempt at a cake. I made a dark chocolate cake and used the buttercream dream recipe I found on this site. The beads I made earlier this week and tossed them on there for the fun of it. I was trying to see if I could do swirls. I think my frosting was too melty so it was tough but I look forward to my next try which will be soon!! Thank you for looking everyone.

This is the second cake I've made so far. Not sure where to put them but thanks for looking. It's a coconut white cake with buttercream frosting and piping and then I put some little mirrors on it for a little shine and sprinkled some coconut over it. My guys, my puppy and my dear little white rat Tinkerbelle love it but I haven't tasted it yet. The buttercream didn't want to crust so I made the most of it and made it fluffy and soft. Added some conf. sugar to some to try to stiffen it for piping.

My First Cake
I used a mix, then a thin crumb coat with white canned frosting, then chilled... then colored remaining buttercream frosting and covered cake then colored some fondant and made a few different colors (you might know I somehow managed to color it pink matching the frosting color! I thought that was once in a million.) And had a bit of orange extra so wrapped it. Now my guys need to eat up because I need to try another one. I'm proud because it's a start. Thanks for looking.
