Pearls And Ruffles
This was my first wedding cake - the bottom is a double layer 16" round, the center is a double layer 12" round (and we had one back up for extra servings), the top tiered cake is an 8" double layer with a 6" atop it. The pearls are edible and I placed them one at a time using tweezers! There are pearl accents in the shell borders along the bottom, and in each rosette on the top borders of the cake.

Chili Cook Off Cake
Our office held a chili cook off this fall...I baked a cake that looked like a crock pot, filled with chili! This is 5 8" rounds (with dowels for support). Covered in buttercream. Handles and knob are white chocolate, and the "chili" is marshmallows, peanuts, and chopped up candy bars, covered in chocolate ganache.

Happy Birthday Mimi
This was for a surprise party for an 80 year old who loves shoes and hats. They wanted to incorporate the shoes and hat (scuplted by a friend and non-edible) with the fondant children around the edge of the cake. Chocolate cake with strawberry filling with buttercream icing and fondant cut outs on the side.

Jen!
One of the funnest cakes I've done! This was for a friend's daughter. The icing colors matched table decorations, and the birthday girl drew a template for the cake. I traced the letters on the cake, used a #7 tip to fill in each letter. I used a paper towel on the top of each letter for the coolest swirl effect.

Darel's Multi Colored Dream Shirt!
My boss has a propensity for wild shirts, so this was for his birthday this year. It's yellow cake with buttercream. I frosted the cake then used square cookie cutters and pressed them into the icing to form the pattern. Then I just filled in the squares with buttercream, let them crust slightly, then used a paper towel and warm hands to melt the squares together. The paper towel gave the "shirt" just enough texture to look like fabric. It was a real hit with the birthday boy!
