Gumpaste Hydrangea Flower Tutorial

Welcome to this video tutorial on how I create my gumpaste hydrangea flowers. If you’re adding flowers to a cake these look great on their own or as part of a floral decoration. I love adding them alongside roses and peonies. I really hope you enjoy this video.

What timing!

I delivered a three tier wedding cake - yesterday, covered in various purple and pink hydrangeas (andmy own home made gold sprayed cake lace). Sadly, I didn't have this tutorial to work from, nor the nice little metal cutter used; only a very substandard set of self embossing hydrangea cutters which leave the petals very fragile and apt to break even using gumpaste. A challenge to say the least. Especially since the weather was diabolical!

All my cakes are bespoke and gluten free, this one no exception- the bride to be was ecstatic when she saw the finished creation so it must have been ok. Could've done with this tutorial a couple weeks ago tho...!
