Hi,

I know this question may sound silly, but I'm kind of new at decorating with fondant and I'm not sure about this.

I have to make a sport team football cap cake. I'm planing on covering this cake in fondant, and then instead of making the logo out of fondant, buy it online (edible) and the attract it to the cap. My question is, can edible images be used on fondant? I'm asking this because every time I see people using edible images, their cakes are always covered with butter cream and the images blend with the frosting  for some reason (i might be the whole point of it, but I'm not sure); thus, I wonder if this is the only way it can be used.

I was reading the description of this edible image online, but it doesn't say anything about fondant.

Help please. I don't want to mess up.

Thank you all in advance.

Yes, they work with fondant, I use them all the time. Just cut the image out with a craft knife, put water on the back, and glue onto the fondant. Don't drip any water on the printed side because it will rub out the image. You can also apply water to your fondant and attach the image that way.

AI used Icing Images (they are on this forum) and I had the same question. They suggested shortening rubbed on the fondant or gumpaste before placing the image. They are very helpful, I'm sure if you sent them a pm they would give you a little step by step info.

do you place it on the fondant with the its back paper still on, or you detach it first as it's suppose to? I just figure it would thaw if we put water on the back (as it blends with buttercream). I'm just saying because like I said, I've never dealt with edible images before lol bare with me lol
