Dear all,
I found out that someone in my city has been posting cakes on her Facebook page which are taken from the internet and are most likely not hers. A friend of mine asked her specifically if she has made them herself and she said that she had made them.
I am kind of sure some of the cakes are not hers. But I don't know how to find out.
I am going to post two of them here and if you know the designer(s) please let me know.
Maybe they are hers after all!;-)
I have seen the second one somewhere quite recently, or a cake very like it, I'm wracking my brain but just can't remember where. If it comes to me I will post it, and yes alert the person who owns the cake, rather than do anything about it yourself, it's up to them if it bothers them that there images are being used.

Unfortunately this happen's often..best advice is above do a google image search find out who actually made the cake and let them know; and if there is any copy written cakes such as character cakes let Disney, etc know.
Seems to happen a lot. I can think of two who are on FB and posting pictures of great cakes and cupcakes that are not theirs and not only claiming them but offering hem for sale(even after being called out on it). Makes me wonder how they justify when their version does not have the same quality as the original. One gal you can immediately tell which cakes are actually done by her versus the cakes she also claims from pictures she has posted. It is sad that someone tries to build a reputation on work they have not done.
AIsn't that crazy? I can't imagine getting caught doing something like that. At the very least, do they not see that their work looks nothing like the masterpieces they try to pass off as their own? Do they tell the customer it won't look the same, or do they argue if the customer gets upset because they were under the impression that they were getting a beautiful cake? How embarrassing.

These cake cheats have no conscience. They only care about money and have no concern for others. If a problem arises they are not at fault. They will come here and vent, not tell the whole story, and become furious if we don't sympathize with their plight. Some CC members will come to Cheat's defense. Starting to sound familiar?

There are plenty of people who make pleasant looking but not professional cakes and conduct business in the most haphazard way, with people doing them a great disservice by way of enthusiastic encouragement. I've seen a lot of indignation when reality is pointed out to them. And I've only been here a few months. So yes, Mimi, it certainly sounds familiar.
The thing that bothers me most is that people often see the stolen picture, see the price list, and think it's the right price for the cake.
I might not even put cakes like these up on a website at all, except maybe in a special section, they just plain don't match my pricing.
I've seen my cakes copied poorly (not here, but in real life), and the imitation doesn't feel like flattery. I don't copy cakes for that very same reason. (Inspiration, though, heck yeah.)
I had an unedited photo stolen and used a long time ago. I would do something about it (it's still out there), but I can't figure out what language the website is.
One time, someone took my photo and tried to give me credit, but called me "Underground Kings", which sounds like I distribute something other than dessert.
So, yeah, watermark.
And shame on them.

Of course! It was on my email, thanks Dayti it was bugging me that I couldn't remember. I just looked at the Gallery and somebody has pointed out that a couple of photos that were posted were made by other people. I think CC Gallery is the last place you would post something that wasn't yours with so many eagle eyes out there.
