I finally found it.  It's Australian. I saw a photo of one and it caught my attention.  It's the beveled edge that interested me.  Just wondered if anyone has one and what they thought about it.

AI think it looks cool. Lexan or plexiglass I think can be food safe, but what turned me off is the last statement. Where does that 'wear and tear' go? Right into the jar of home made disco dust!!!

The video on the site won't play for me...what's the advantage of a clear plastic/acrylic scraper over a stainless one? Why the bevelled edge? I think the wear and tear might just mean it scratches easily...not that chunks of it will fall off. Might break if you drop it on the floor though I guess. I drop my stainless ones all the time...butterfingers!

They were using it to smooth ganache.  I'm not sure about the advantage.  I think the beveled edge had something to do with applying icing with stencils.    {Cake tools are so fun.}

We call it Perspex in Australia - and yes, it is food safe.

The Bevelled edge  gives you the choice of either lightly removing excess ganache or alot.

Plus by having a bevelled edge, you can tilt it to make thin impression lines in fondant or thicker horizontal lines....

Just like the clear perspex cake smoothers - one can always see what one is doing *through* the perspex...

Just an individual choice.

Re the wear and tear - i have had clear perspex cake smoothers for a few years now and after many a work out on cakes - it is still as good as new.

I doubt very much whether dropping this on the caking room floor would crack/dent it.....due to its thickness.

I have to say the Clear Cake Scraper is fantastic. They are an original product designed by Janet O'Sullivan Cake Design aka the Cupcake Lady https://www.facebook.com/thecupcakeladyadelaide
An awesome product, I own all sizes of the tool and use them all the time for more than ganache. You can use them for buttercream, royal icing etc. Her products are available here https://www.facebook.com/thecupcakeladyadelaide/app_251458316228
