I have a customer who would like these appliques on her cake, but I can't for the life of me zoom in close enough to get a good look at them.  She can't find the link to the picture anymore :-(.  Anyone recognize the diamond appliques and border detail on this cake?  Help would be super appreciated!*

Here's a larger shot...it looks like all piping, to me: http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/77/f5/06/77f506611823ab20715ac694e22dd0c0.jpg

Do you think the diamond appliques are piping?? Or the rest of the detail? Regardless, that's a LOT of piping!!!

I do...

it looks like piping on and around diamond-shaped pieces of fondant, and on the border band, then painted silver.

(Extruded fondant could also give you that same look though)

AThat's definitely piping. If you compare one piped diamond on the middle tier to the next, you'll see that they are slightly different. Good luck!

I would say a diamond impression mat  was pressed on the cake and then fondant pieces placed on top, that goes for the top and bottom layer. If you zoom in on it you can see the individual pieces!
