AOkay so I'm freaking out about fondant. I need to color fondant, how far in advance can I color fondant. Also I needed to color buttercream icing red and it took so much gel color, will it be the same for fondant?:D
You can color fondant whenever you want, but make sure you keep it sealed and out of the sun. It might be hard to color buttercream red, I've tried it before and I had to add A LOT of colouring to it. But its probably because I used wilton colouring. Gels might be different. When I want red fondant, I just buy it.
AThank you. I guess I will color it wrap it in Saran Wrap and put it back into the container it came in. The party is Sunday.
Please remember that different fondants will require different amounts. Be sure to consult a chart for the fondant you will be using.
AIt takes so much colouring to achieve red because colours like red and black require a lot of pigment. In the past I've added orange first then red, orange is the underlying pigment in red. Probably easiest to just buy it.
