AI need to make some cupcakes with a chicken coop theme and I wanted to try and incorporate chicken wire. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Can I use Gum paste? Is there a better way to create chicken wire with a different method or product? Thank you!!

this sounds like a sugar veil type of project--maybe start there--but you could pipe some royal icing chicken wire-y things too--

i'd go royal if it was me

You could use gum paste it you have an extruder, but that would be incredibly time consuming.  Doing it with royal would at least cut down on the time it would take.  You could pipe a whole sheet of it and break it into pieces to put on the cc.  That might be less time intensive and each piece would be different.  I'd practice beforehand.  HTH and let us know how it goes.

y'know i'd pipe a bunch of the little hexagons--make a pattern first--like lace pieces only not as fragile or small--then let 'em dry & assemble them with the royal---yoiks--a little painstaking but actually sounds like fun--i like projects like that --

Here is a close up picture of how the chicken wire turned out. Thanks for the tips. I think it worked great. It was EXTREMELY delicate so a lot was wasted but in the end they are exactly what she wanted :)
