A prospective customer sent me several photos of cakes that she likes and I am unsure of one of them. Can someone help?

It looks like fondant to me, which I know how to do, but could this be buttercream? If so, how would it be done?

Thanks!

That actually looks more like buttercream to me...you'd ice the cake smooth and then pipe strips around the sides. Smooth it and shape the ridges with a small spatula. Or you can use a large petal tip to get the ridges.

Pretty cake. :)

AThat's what I think as well..it's buttercream but be advised this look is deceptively simple. Be sure you have time to practice it before it's show time lol :)

Thank you. Yes, I agree! I told her that I have not done that technique before, so if it is her favorite of the ones that she sent me I would have to try it and see how it looks before I commit to it. I'm kind of hoping that it's not her favorite since I have done all of the other ones that she sent me pictures of. ;-)
