Hello

I am new, veryyy new.  My cooking/baking  experience consist of grilled cheese sandwhich's.  I was lucky after searching high and low and found a husband that loves to cook.  Recently, I became obsessed with baking.  Found this sight and am amazed not only of the cakes/cupcakes that are done but by the genorosity of the info you share.  I live in Orange County California and spend my day on Cake Central, I think I am addicted.   I know I will be asking questions and I don;t want to overstep any boundaries so if I ask a question that offends anyone or if I seem like a idiot please bare with me.

AWelcome! A lot of your more general questions have probably been asked and answered for you! Just a tip...use the search function in this website bad search your question. You'd be surprised at how many people have similar questions, and the wealth of information out there. These good stuff hidden in these threads!

Of course if you can't find your answer you definitely can't post it here. Happy Baking!

Thank you to those who replied with a welcome.  I received a private message from Shanter telling me my spelling and grammar may be a problem.  I may not be taken seriously.  So I am sorry i posted.  I did ask for people to bear with me but I didn't realize I would upset Shanter.  I told her I am learning disabled but I just wanted to try.

She corrected all my miss spelled words and thank her for that but I will not post and upset you folks.  I will just read all of your helpful post's

Welcome. There is a wealth of information here. My only suggestion is that you could polish your language to be taken more seriously. I know that there's bad grammar and spelling all over the web, but most of us do try to do it right. I'm not saying you won't get help, because you will. It's just a peet peeve of some of us:

AShe's giving you a heads up before someone who lacks tact calls you out on it publicly. It is a pet peeve of many, and many with great help to offer will indeed skip right over your questions.

I'm eating a big helping of "humble pie" at the moment. I truly meant no offense by my laughter; I was just reacting to the visual put into my mind by Mimi's comment. We have grammar and spelling issues all over the site and it is sad that they are just not overlooked. We grammar Nazis, (I know, I am one!), can find it easy to get fixated on the "mechanics" of language and lose the whole intent of the poster. I guess that repeated exposure toughens the skin of some while others are too quickly crushed. All I can say is if it is possible, just ignore the less kind remarks, even if they are posted in an attempt to help. Not everyone appreciates instruction, no matter how well intended.

This is, indeed, a wonderful place to come and learn and to share our successes and, yes, our failures. You are most certainly not overstepping any boundaries by asking questions. It is a good idea, however, to first search the past threads for quite likely your questions have been answered by others before you. After being a member for some time, we find the repetition somewhat tedious if it is felt that no effort has been expended by the poster. Be as it may, though, you will most likely find someone willing to answer.

I am delighted to see that you have discovered the joys of baking. And it is wonderful to see that you have a good, supportive husband. I would hate to think that your experience with us has in any way dampened your enthusiasm. Believe me, it is refreshing. Please give us another chance and jump in whenever you feel like it.

I thought the PM by Shanter that was copied publicly was polite and well intended. In no way did she indicate that you shouldn't post. Had she posted that here in the forum, a lot of people would have jumped on the bandwagon and you would have felt ganged up on. Mimi's was just a bit of gentle humor. We've all made typos or spelling errors sometimes and some good-natured teasing is par for the course.

A private message is supposed to remain private. It was rude to post it publicly. Excuse me for trying to help. I try really hard to be polite and not be the grammar nazi, but sometimes it just hits me the wrong way. That's why I sent a  PRIVATE message. I don't like to humiliate people IN PUBLIC. I think I'm out of here.
