AI spoke to a friend of mine whose in the cake making business and she said it would be fine to wrap the end of my wires in aluminium tin foil and put the topper into my cake that way as I don't have any straws or anything.. Is it safe as I have now read that anything metal in a cake isn't safe.. I'm abit baffled as to what to do as only need it for tomorrow (Saturday) please help

AStraws. Coffee stirrers, regular, or for bigger bunches, I use bubble tea straws. It's much better than wrapping them.

AThank you for your input, I don't have any of the other bits to hand and have no time to grab any in shops, so I need to know if I can use the tin foil instead :( I've made it with the tin foil and don't have time to change it but ill cut the topper out altogether if I can't :) thanks again :)

ACan't believe I'm suggesting this, but in a pinch, you can't go to Jack in The Box or something and grab a few straws? I'd wrap it in plastic wrap before foil honestly.

Yes it's safe to insert in the cake. It's for wrapping and cooking food in, so it's fine. Just not what I would do, but in a pinch, sure. Share the cake pic when you're all done!:grin:

AWill do I'm sure :) thank you so much :) I just know for future reference not to put anything metal in my cakes :) I didn't see there would be a problem before thinking and researching it..
