::sigh::
There are sooo many of these pricing questions, every day. Years ago, the oldtimers just started answering $9.95 for everything.
We can't tell you what to charge because we don't know whether you buy your ingredients wholesale or retail and what those costs might be; how much your permits and license and insurance cost; what the retail bakery market in your area is; what sort of hourly wage you need/want; the cost of power in your area; costs of materials to clean your kitchen, etc, etc. But YOU know these things, so YOU can compute your costs and your retail price.

Hahaha! That is too funny. These seemingly endless pricing threads are so tiresome.
ALike I said I'm new at this...but thank you for all your help!!
AAnd if your tired of these posts then don't bother opening them,simple as that.
I thought this was a place you could get help no matter what. Give her a break you guys, she said she's new. How many of us didn't feel insecure when we first jumped into the water. I applaud her for not giving up.
Honey if you need help you can pm me as much as you need to.

And Godot, that is terrible, that cake is worth at least a cool $25-30!
AThank you guys for the advice! Don't know what people win of from being so rude.
ASome forums will automatically suggest relevant threads to read first based on the title of the thread being created. Unfortunately CC doesn't do that, and new users may not know how to use the search feature, so let's try cutting the OP some slack. After all, everyone was a newbie at some point.
Back to the question at hand, check out the Pricing Formula link in my signature below.

Question for those on here: in ordinary circumstances, if you were not a baker, would you be able to afford your own cakes?
Unless you are part of your target market the question is irrelevant.
First of all, Cake Central The Website is not going to give business advice. We regularly promote posts, classes and tutorials created by the community covering all sorts of topics, and the best we can offer is to "sticky" threads at the top of the forums for topics that come up regularly that have been answered by the community. THERE HAS BEEN PRICING THREADS STICKIED SINCE 2007. Some read them, most don't. It won't, never will, and is NOT INTENDED TO PREVENT new people from joining and posting questions here, regardless of how many times that questions has been asked in the past.
Second, the goal is to be inclusive of EVERYONE in the cake community, and if asking how to price a cake breaks the ice and encourages new people to join and participate in the forums, then we have achieved our goal.
Snarky posts from this point forward on pricing threads will be deleted and the members posting the snark will start racking up infractions. Get enough infractions and you will be banned.
We ask the community to start flagging snarky posts so we mods can deal accordingly.
If pricing threads bother you or you have nothing nice to say, then don't open, read or respond to them.
