AHello cake friends!!
So I have a dilemma! I have to make a fondant bow and crown for a cake. Now I tried to make the crown and it is NOT working out! I used the gum tex to stiffen the fondant but it did NOT work! Am I doing something wrong?? Wha can I do to stiffen up my fondant so it can work well with me for the crown and now! I need it for tomorrow (Saturday). Suggestions ?
Hello, I have 2 crown cakes going out this week. I read someones post about making crowns out of white chocolate, that worked great and only took 1/2 hour to 1 hour start to finish. Also I use tylose to stiffen the fondant, but I have found it usually takes me more tylose then what people recommend.
Why don't you try the ready made gum paste such as Squires Kitchen flower paste - which is very quick drying.

AI too have tried the paste and realized that the white chocolate melts worked very well and quick. I used it to make coral for a nemo cake. I expect that it would work well for a crown too. Tape the edges of wax paper to the shape you want, pipe on the details, and pop it in the freezer to harden. Longevity will be based on the temperature where the cake is served, but you can so a lot with the chocolate. You can use any color and luster dust it give it sparkle.
AI've also seen some molds for the bow and you could do a light weight layer within the mold.
