Storing Cakes With Flowerpaste Flowers

I have created some roses & leaves using flowerpaste for the first time. They are now completely dry. I will be using them to top cakes for Mother's day. The cakes will need to be refrigerated as they have a cheesecake layer in the center. The cakes will be covered with buttercream & I am worried that the moisture from the icing will soften the flowers & ruin them. Does anyone know the best way to store the cakes & not ruin the flowers?
I'm no cake guru by any means, but my thought would be to store the flowers and the cake separately. Attach the flowers with BC or whatever type of 'glue' prior to presentation.
I have a cake coming up with a huge gum-paste bow on top and plan to set it last.

Put the flowers on before delivery, don't refrigerate them for a long period of time or they can soften up.
Thank you for your suggestion. So, overnight in the fridge for the flowers would be bad?
Could be. Not necessarily will be, but could be. I refrigerated a cake with gumpaste flowers for a short time (3-4 hours) over the weekend and it was fine. Over night might be pushing it. I'd do as suggested and wait until you're done with refrigeration to add them.
