AYou'll need to buy the equipment necessary to run a small cake business.

AHi Cathy, I am new at doing this for a business, also, and the first thing I bought was a stand mixer. I have wanted one for years, and it is worth it's weight in gold! And obviously pans, and spatulas. I am a big believer in buying the best you can afford so that it actually works, and you don't have to,replace broken tools every few months.

And craftsy.com does have a good video on starting a baking business. Might be worth the money for it. Best, Nancy

I know someone with a cupcake business and was amazed at what she produced with just a few pieces of equipment in a rented storefront that used to be a small cafe.

A used Blodgett double oven  http://www.allthebestequipment.com/proddetail.php?prod=1040

20qt mixer, 2 KAs, , commercial double freezer and cooler.  Shop around, check out auctions, and the classified ads.

It is possible to find some really good deals on equipment out there.

Good luck!

AIt depends what you mean by small cake business.

Are you opening a store? Making one cake a week from home?
