AExcedrin. The best migraine reliever for me. What pain reliever did you take?

drink a lot of water

do some breathing exercises where you're still & quiet & just concentrate on breathing in & out for a few minutes

your mind will wander --just bring it back to focusing on breathing

take off your glasses, and be sure you hair is loosely tied up

and i'm so sorry you don't feel good

I hope you feel better soon.  There is nothing worse than a migraine!  My mother takes Zomig, it's prescription if you get migraines regularly.  Excedrine for sure, and also if you can take a break, put a cold compress on your forehead and over your eyes.

AHow long ago did you take the Excedrin? Do you have time to lay down in a quiet, dark room for about 30 minutes?

I take maxalt (prescription) and it's like a miracle.  Place it under your tongue and it melts.

Thank you guys sooooo much for your responses,  I think I really need some rest.  I have been burning this candle from both ends for far to long.

So I'm going to take a break from CC for awhile, it might be related to all the reading online without my glasses on too, lol.

Thanks again to all of you,

God Bless

I get zolmitriptan, by prescription, it's the only thing so far that's worked for me. Excedrine doesn't touch mine, unfortunately.

When they first start coming on, I sit in a dark room with white noise, and like k8memphis said, do some deep breathing exercises. Artificial light kills me when I get a migraine.

My prescription glasses are rose tinted, I have been taking them off lately.  So I guess when I read a lot online without them it stresses my eyes.  I try not to read to much  in the forums anymore.  Just a lot of arguing and rudeness lately, I stick to positive things like the gallery and threads that friends have started.  They bring me so much joy, and I am proud of them for pursuing their dreams.

My migraines stem from eye stress mainly, I have never been given an prescription for them, I just take over OTC meds.

Thank you so much for your responses, I feel much better now.

I agree about staying away from the computer with a migraine, I also like to stay away from children ;-) I find that there is a spot on my neck I can apply pressure to that helps, as does staying hydrated.

Unfortunately that day I could not, had a lot of work to do.  So I took a snap and it helped.  I think I found the culprit though.

Thank you for your suggestions

Sorry this is a late post, but I'd like to mention Goody's Headache Powders.  Used to take Excedrin, but it was off the market for months, and finally came back recently (yay!), so I needed to try something else.

IMHO - and I am NOT a health professional of any type nor do am I affiliated with Goody's - I prefer the powders for a few reasons.  Oftentimes, I only need one dose, they are already broken down (so my stomach doesn't have do that part), I seem to feel better sooner, and they have a different ratio of ingredients per dosage.

My biggest trick is to catch it early!  The absolute first second that I feel 'that feeling' lurking, I'm on it!  BAM!

As always, 'your mileage may vary'... but glad to hear you're feeling better...

And sorry for going all 'disclaimer' on you, but these days, you almost have to do it... ugh!

AI actually find those Be Cool migraine cooling pads you stick on your head to be quite effective, I've also managed to diffuse an early migraine by rubbing an ice cold can of coke across my head for half an hour or so. Otherwise it's a dose of Excedrin Migraine, followed by another two hours later (I know you're not supposed to do that but one dose never does it).

AI'm a newbie but wanted to reply because I'm a migraine sufferer (occasionally!)

See your doctor and ask for Imitrex. I use the 100mg but they also make a 50 mg. there is a generic now to help offset the cost; it's called Sumatriptan.

Forget the OTC when it comes to migraines; seek medical intervention! :)

Take care & I'm glad to be in here!

I suffer from migranes too, not often but when they hit they seriously pack a punch and a whole day can pass with me in bed. Painkillers is one, lots of water tends to help as well and this may just be me but cuddling up to the other half helped, I thought he had miracle hugs till I realised it was temperature related and he helps warm me up and even out my body temperate as its all over the place, hot head but my body absolutly freezes even under the covers so if he isn't in its cold cloth on the head and a hot water bottle by the feet to even out the body temp (again, the body temp thing may just be me).

Also, go get an eye test, I wear glasses and you'd be surprised how many headaches a prescription slightly off or not wearing glasses can give you, especially if your really focusing on things i.e. computer or decorating! Good luck x

Wow I feel bad for complaining, your migraines sound awful. I have prescriptions glasses, I just didn't have them on when I was doing a lot of reading.  I think spooning helps with a lot of things, lol.

Thank you for your suggestions.

AMy daughter had one the night before last. She had been feeling fine, had seconds at dinner, and then it hit her! She was dying, crying, puking. I went in the bathroom to rub her back, and I said,"oh, all your yummy dinner!" She said,"it's not so yummy now." And shuddered, poor girl! She just turned 9 in late February.
