Hello All!
I have been baking out of my home for a few years now. I have an interview for a local bakery this week :) They said part of the interview would be basic decorating, so dress accordingly. What do I wear? I was originally planning on wearing black dress pants, but would that be too dressy for the situation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Hhmmmm....I would definitely stay with some kind of slacks although not black or nicer jeans. Maybe gray slacks, sort of dressy tennis shoes, and a nice shirt or pastry jacket?
Rule number one in Culinary School was that you never, ever wear a Chef's coat to an interview. It's considered an insult to the Chef.
Dress Professional, but with comfortable shoes. They may ask you to demonstrate skills right then and there. They should provide you with an apron to cover your dressier clothes.
baker rose is right, you don't wear a chef's coat to an interview. Oh the politics of the cooking :)
I'd go for 'smart casual', dark tailored jeans are perfectly acceptable, with a nice top.
Just make sure your hair is pulled back, no jewelery on your hands or wrists, (a wedding ring is acceptable), nothing flowy that will touch the food or pick up flour, etc.
I would dress for the interview as per usual but bring a apron to cover yourself. That way you look amazing for the interview yet you are prepared for the kitchen.
Too funny ellavanilla!!!!! I was a cupcake for Halloween a two years ago :) Thanks again everyone! I was able to figure out an outfit. I hope all goes well tomorrow!
