AMy son would like a furry looking monster for his birthday cake. I know a grass tip is what I would use, but what kind of frosting would stay in that shape if I covered an entire round cake with it? I am afraid it will start to melt together.

Any crusting Buttercream should be good. Try Indydebi's :) Good luck!
I've used the Viva crusting buttercream for hair/grass effect with either the grass tip or the jumbo grass tip and that holds up well. I used canned frosting (!) for this monkey hair and it was done the night before the party . It's hard on your wrist - or at least it's hard on mine - this monkey took me a couple of rest stops! Good luck!

Thanks jiya! I got the idea from another CC'er. I made this cake for my father 2 years ago. It only LOOKS like it's for a child! It made me laugh making it and it made all the other monkeys in my family howl!
