ASo i made my hubby a tres leches cake covered in whipped cream and left it outside in the kitchen table for about 4 hrs or so...its pretty cold here in california right now. About 60° degrees. It tasted great just wanted to make sure it wont make my family sick. I had made the cake last night and poured the milks and put it in the fridge and took it out today around 1p.m and covered it in whipped cream ( heavy cream, powdered sugar) is cake safe to eat? :/

A60° is firmly in the danger zone for good safety. Dairy products must be stored less than 40°. After 4 hours out of refrigeration, your cake is done tor.

Clifton's Cafeteria offers a tres leches cake as a dessert choice. It's displayed on a chill table.

ARGH!  that should have read  "food safety"  not good safety.  60 degrees is BAD.

We know what you meant. I, for one, didn't see your typo until you rubbed your own nose in it.icon_biggrin.gif

Uh, I'm actually not big on desserts in general and pies in particular (I tend to eat cake and cookies mainly as snacks), and as a child, when it was a suspected aggravating agent to my allergies, I cultivated a loathing for chocolate that I've never had any reason to un-cultivate.

Restaurants I frequent already know that I'm a notorious hard-sell on desserts. And I'd say that the TL at Clifton's (I hope they keep it when they finish the renovations and reopen) is probably the one restaurant dessert I eat with any regularity.
